Who do you all use to insure your firearms? I have been hearing good things about Gun and Trophy but unfortunately their coverage excludes Alaska and Hawaii for whatever reason.

Let me know who you use and would recommend. Thanks.

Thanks @Fryeguy I neglected to mention that I currently have them insured through my homeowners insurance. I am looking around to see whether there are other standalone firearm insurance plans out there that covers Alaska.

I like Eastern Insurance. They insure your guns traveling, in your auto, home anywhere and everywhere. Never had a claim but have used them for several years. I believe they have $100 deductible.

SCI has a policy

This is a good question, I have been thinking about the same myself, lately. Couple things to add here for the rest to chime in on- Has anyone ever had a claim with Eastern and if so, how did it go? I've seen several people talking about claims being denied with them. Don't know if this is just since the Gallagher merger or has always been an issue....Also has anyone used Gun and Trophy? Seems like they offer the most options, including a policy that covers ammo- it seems like the rest do not offer this, unless I'm missing something. For handloaders or those who stockpile factory ammo, this would be a big deal in the case of a fire or complete theft of inventory.

I was thinking about changing my Homeowners so I checked with State Farm and I the Agent told me he could put a rider on my policy to cover my guns but I would need that supply the serial numbers and Makes to keep on file

One thing you will want them to clarify is what exactly the coverage is. I've heard that many homeowners riders will say its $5-10k coverage but that is total for all guns, regardless of how many your have and not each one individually. Don't know for sure if it's true, but I'd certainly be asking.

True, thats why I started looking, 5-10gs is peanuts especially if you have a 404Jeff in the closet

Eastern for me is a $50,000 policy with a maximum one time claim of $12,000 per gun. while this will not cover my DR at least it is something

Laura at Eastern had me an additional binder on DR for its value. As long as provided make model caliber and serial.
When I sold the DR I dropped it.

I've been very pleased with the rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy.

I started it 3 year's ago to cover the 2 rifles that I last took to Africa. When the CZ .416 Rigby was safely back in the safe, I shifted $8,000 to insure my 37 year old Submariner.

Last fall, I did $1,800 worth of damage to the watch helping my daughter move during a thunderstorm. (Bad Day (I also tore up my pickup truck))

I sent the receipt to State Farm and $1,800 showed up in my bank account 3 days later, with no "pushback" whatsoever.

I've been a State Farm customer since I was 16, and within the last 5 years, they have become not as easy to deal with as they used to be, but the homeowner's rider to cover personal items has been 100% positive.

I have USAA not sure if that’s a option for you but u have pretty much everything with a s# insured, I have had 2 guns stolen out of my truck both window break smash and grabs and the money to replace the guns was in my account 2 days later no deductible

I have been a member of USAA for about 30 years now and USAA is the one that I currently use. I wanted to see whether there are better options specifically for insuring firearms.

Gun and Trophy is out for me as their insurance coverage excludes Alaska and Hawaii. I will have to call Eastern/Gallagher Insurance to see what they can offer. I tried Eastern/Gallagher website but their search engine for firearm insurance does not show any results.

Thank you all for your replies.
