Thats the spirit. The "it doesn't do anything my 280ai or 7mm rem mag won't do" curmudgeons are hilarious. Yes, it does something your 7 Rem mag won't do. It throws the same weight or heavier bullets out of 16 or 18" barrel faster than your 280ai or rem mag does with a 24" barrel.

To play devil's advocate: what does that "same or heavier bullet out of shorter barrel with more speed" do for me? Will it hit the target any more accurately, or kill the animal any more dead? I doubt it.

However, that is an argument that also works for the new calibers coming out.

For a given species, differences of lighter / heavier / faster / slower / amount of drop / etc., etc., are basically irrelevant under 300 yards, especially if the gun is properly zeroed for your shooting conditions. Out to 400 is minimally different if the shooter knows what they're doing. And if they don't know, they shouldn't be shooting. The nuances between steps in calibers are, in all honesty, irrelevant in most cases.

I have said it before in this thread, I actually like the concept of the 7BC. It does provide a value to the growing number of shooters who want short barrels and suppressors. I won't talk down to anyone buying a new rifle, either for want or need, if they choose any of the new calibers. I have/want a couple myself. ... There is a HUGE overlap of calibers that can all effectively do the same thing. Having a little variety never hurt.

In a big summary, the 7BC (and other new calibers) may not do anything substantially different than more established cartridges, but it doesnt hurt to give people choices for something different.

Meh, I’m not phased by that. I have a reasonable selection and I’m content. I don’t think the 7BC is a handloading proposition so I’m not going there.
like the ugh, Creedmoor it is optimised to certain things and fits the bill.
I can’t have a suppressor and I expect the ammo will be costly and difficult to find in country stores so it won’t suit me but it will suit others

I was against it at first until I actually got away from the hive mindset and looked into it more. I have recently started acquiring suppressors and definitely appreciate a shorter combo that doesn't carry like a damn musket.

I also don't care that it's not reloadable or at least not yet. I don't reload and I suspect many adopters of this cartridge are the same way. I have many traditional rifles and cartridges but will absolutely be buying either a Horizon Firearms (Stiller Action) or Hill Country Rifles (Defiance Action) custom in the coming weeks.

Its comical reading some of the boomer fudd remarks in these threads regarding this cartridge or even the likes of the Creedmoor's or PRC's of which I don't own. Some of you guys really are miserable and do shake your fists in the air and yell at the passing clouds, don't you?

The non reloadable part wouldn’t phase many who are using it purely for hunting.

I enjoy reloading and range time.

Maybe I could have got away with factory ammo for hunting purposes and dedicated hunting rifles.

Looking at the price of some ammo now I expect the 7BC will be expensive here. Even .223 and .308 are have jumped in recent times. We probably see an increase in every shipment.

I was at a long range shooting course last week and most were using 6.5creedmoor. The brief was to bring 200 rounds. One guy told me spent nearly 1k on ammo, along with a heap of new gear. I saw another box of premium ammo with a $115.00 price tag

For someone using a box per year to check zero and hunt the factory ammo cost probably isn’t a concern in the big picture albeit $100 a box is hard to swallow.
