Favourite quotes - Here's mine, Quite a long list. What's yours?

“It’s a dangerous thing to mistake speaking without thought. With speaking the truth”

“You can’t teach a pig to sing.
You’ll only wear yourself out and, it annoys the pig”.

(Mark Twain ? or maybe, Robert A. Heinlein ?)

J.R.R. Tolkien didn't quite achieve the status of theologian as his good friend C.S. Lewis, but he certainly sprinkled a great deal of theology in The Hobbit and LotR. My favorite quote from those books

“PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.

GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.

PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?

GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.

GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.”

Wisdom, though hard won over long years, is worthless until it is shared.

Life is sweetest when it is lived close to Death.

Tis better to live life on the edge than to just take up space in the middle.

The wise man keeps his eyes peeled and his ears open, and his mouth shut!

Dear God, please don't let me f*uk up.

So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.

Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours.

Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life.

Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way.

Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

~ Tecumseh

Chief Tecumseh was a great Native American warrior chief. This version is from the movie “Act of Valor”!

It's not so much getting into a girl's pants as getting the girl out of her pants.

This ought to piss off somebody, Boy Scout oath.

"On my honor, I will do my best, to help the Girl Scout get undressed".

This is going to hurt me a lot more than its going to hurt You

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
