Howdy,

This seems unlikely but I thought I’d ask if anyone has experience hand loading those bullets in 45 auto, or +p or super. Or 460 Rowland since it’s basically the same thing.

I like these bullets and the extreme penetrators as well. Carried them for some years but I’d rather load them myself as finding ammo in person is tricky and I don’t always want to be buying the ~$2 per round of ammo online.

As an aside, I’d be interested if anyone was looking to sell their 45 super brass or if you had these bullets lying around just taking up space.

Thanks

In .45 Colt only. No problem in a revolver and Underwood loads them in the ACP, so I’d imagine getting them to work is no big deal. Midway has the Underwood ammo, if you’re looking.

I'll +1 with @analog_peninsula, except 260(?) grain bullets in .44 mag revolver. These bullets tested very well into a cape buffalo and an eland carcass.

How was the penetration and wound channel?
Thinking about these in a 200 grain 44 special +P load.

I posted the results somewhere here on the forum. IIRC the bullet used on the buff went through the sternum or shoulder plate and lodge in the spine and the bullet used on the eland went through the sternum and busted up 3 vertebrae in the spine. Both bullets only showed rifling marks and are reloadable to use again.

Here's a photo of one of the 2 bullets.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
