Congratulations Scott!!!! Also, congratulations to the seller, @rookhawk!!! Awesome rifle!!!I will take it. PM sent.
Thank you for buying it my will power was beginning to slip.I will take it. PM sent.
That is about a perfect one gun solution for Africa! Happy for you, Scott!
I tried unsuccessfully to buy this type of Traveler combo a while ago before going on my lion safari and consulted @rookhawk back then. He mentioned he might sell his then but wasn’t sure. It’s a little late to buy a Traveler combo now since I have just about everything in Africa that I want but I gave into temptation! I guess I will take it to Cameroon for LDE, roan and buffalo in February and maybe to SA in June for rhino/plains game? I am darting the rhino. Probably won’t take it to Ethiopia in 2027 since it’s not really a mountain rifle. Might take it to Botswana in 2026 for son’s leopard? In any case, my son and grandsons will enjoy it after I’m gone!
Yes understood. I do have two other 375s and a Lott already.@Scott CWO while not “normal”, I think the 375HH with 235gr softs is a wonderful North America rifle. People give funny looks, but don’t give funny looks if you’re using a .338 and 250gr bullets? Never made sense to me why the HH isn’t “America’s rifle”.
I can’t see any reason why someone shouldn’t pay for a better 375HH knowing they can use it for everything in America and Africa.
I agree with your thinking. Since I already have a Blaser with 3 barrels, 375 h&h, 338 win mag, 270 winchester, for me the Traveler 7mm & 404 Dakota worked out good.@Scott CWO while not “normal”, I think the 375HH with 235gr softs is a wonderful North America rifle. The only thing that can be said poorly about the 375HH 235gr lead core loads is that they have poor B.C.s. I looked around a few times, but I could never find a 235gr copper soft. A copper 235gr would be ideal because it is 22% greater volume by mass than lead, so it would shoot like a laser, have a way better BC, and would have the expansion of a 286gr lead-core bullet equivelant.
I'll keep looking for my perfect North America 375HH load.
Congrats on the purchase of one of the best deals to be posted on AH in a while. Can’t wait to read about and see photos of you using this rifle for what it was intended.Yes understood. I do have two other 375s and a Lott already.
In addition, after I retire in a couple years, I will probably take the Traveler on some late notice cancellation safaris that come across my desk every year. If I had the time right now, I could be in Moz or Zim hunting lion as we speak for half price.
I agree with your logic, but the aversion to the 375 H&H is probably caused as much by an addiction Americans have for the 30 calibers as anything else.@Scott CWO while not “normal”, I think the 375HH with 235gr softs is a wonderful North America rifle.
