I have three pairs of Jonsson shirts now. My buddies laugh when I wear them, but they are very comfortable and much cooler that Bermuda shorts.

Short shorts I would imagine serve multiple purposes, quieter when moving through brush as your skin is silent, cooler, lets a little draft in on the boys if you know what I mean. I have a couple pair, I wouldn't wear them walking around in the US, but they are great for africa

It was so cold this morning, my ph wore 2 pairs of shorts.

Interesting video. But I do think shorts well predated the bush war. Bell talks about wearing them because they are quieter in his Karamojo Safari book. And of course they were quite common in the British colonial army. As were kilts for the Scottish units.
