England Hunting Pictures

It would be interesting to see a couple of those fight!

Ten more days and I’ll be looking for muntjac and Chinese Water Deer as well !

Hi UKHunter,

Just found this post about UK hunting. I was over recently on holiday and managed to get out stalking with a friend, got this Muntie in velvet. We were stalking in the Surrey Hills area. Used a 243 which mincest the internals of these small deer. We were after Roe, but didnt see any bucks. Which area are you UKHunter?

Glad you had a good time! All my deer stalking permissions are in East Anglia.

A few of my other tropies from the UK. All in the Cotswolds. Hunting in the UK is seriously underrated. Six deer species - roe, fallow, red, sika, Chinese water deer, and muntjac. Muntis are my favorite to eat, but roe are my favorite to hunt.

very nice photos Gents. I really enjoyed the deer stalking, Ive done it twice, taken both Roe and Muntjac

Do any of you use thermal monoculars to spot for deer in the woodland areas. Or are you spot stalking with binoculars only?

Which calibres are you using? I used a 243 which worked perfectly on both Roe and Muntjac. The meat damage was quite significant though. I'm thinking because of the velocity of the 243 and rapidly expanding bullets we used. What are your thoughts on the 6.5 swedish or 270 as an all round deer rifle?

Yes I use a pulsar thermal with RF on all stalks. I have quite a few footpaths that run through my area. So helps identifying the muppets that stray. Also really good for picking up foxs. Spot with thermal identification with bins. Male female etc.
Caliber 7x57.

Yes, I use thermal spotter - its particularly useful for muntjac.

I use a 7X57 but used to use a .243 and .270 in the past - they all kill if the bullet is in the right place.

I should add my CWD from just north of Oxford:

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
