I've been to Kodiak Island for Sitka and it truly is Magical.

I've been out in Prince William Sound...Alaska is simply amazing.

I think $15K would get a nice buff and RT air to RSA if one shopped a bit. On the other end of the spectrum, a DIY hunt, especially for cow elk, here in Idaho is one of the cheapest hunts a man can do. Having said that, most people can't do it. They need someone to pack their lunch. But planning, deciding and dreaming are an enjoyable part of any hunt.........have fun.........FWB

I’m searching for an elk hunt for fall of 2025 or 2026. I’m looking for a rifle or black powder hunt for myself and a buddy.
We were thinking a cow hunt for our first elk hunt so it doesn’t break the bank.
Any recommendations or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Boyd
What’s your budget? Guided or DIY? Here are a few options/ideas

New Mexico - EPLUS LO Vouchers and do rifle or muzzleloader or try to draw a tag

Colorado - RFW LO Vouchers or you can try to draw a tag. There are some options where you won’t need points or can draw in a year or two. You can also look at a depredation hunt in the late summer from a couple outfitters

Utah - try to draw/buy a General Season cow or spike tag or you can look at buying CWMU tag

Wyoming - try to draw a tag, depending on unit it might take a couple years

Idaho - you can look at an outfitted hunt with a guaranteed outfitter tag. Lots of opportunities for cow/spike muzzleloader tags which normally have pretty good odds on success.

Arizona - drawing a tag is really your only option

Montana - has some easier to draw tags that don’t take points. An outfitter will increase your odds of success since a lot of those areas have a lot of private land in them where the elk seek refuge after the lead starts flying

Cali - you can buy a Tule tag but you can go to Africa a time or two for that money

I’m not as familiar with Oregon/Washington since I don’t apply there but I believe both offer an OTC option. You’re probably looking $3-5k for most of the landowner options on a cow hunt. You can also speak to an outfitter about trying to draw a cow tag and if you don’t, buying a landowner voucher if you want to go right away. If you PM me I can share some outfitters names who I personally know and have or would hunt with when I draw a tag

Reza Call me any time you want to talk about Elephant. hunting and CMS.
I've hunted two Elephant with CMS.
In 13 African safari's and an equal number of North American hunts, BUZZ is the best guide I have ever hunted with.
