Elephant taxidermy ideas for ivory, leather, ears, etc

For pedestals I asked for simple massive cubes of wood, with dimpled caps.

For the feet, like this:

The rest of the skin I do not know for sure yet.
I was thinking of finding a desk similar to @WAB, or an English partner desk and having the top leather insert replaced with my leather.

Another option is having all 8 dining chairs reupholstered.

Also considering having a travel backpack made, as well as some bags for the wife.
Those tusks are magnificent; so much character. Congratulations!

Following along. I will (hopefully) have similar questions soon. I know basically what I want, but I don't know who can do the work.

Leather goods - handbags, wallets, belts, rifle case, easy chair, etc. I would also love a big 5 elephant ear painting.

I'm also having them ship an elephant femur. The thought of freight charges for all of this scares me to death. Someday, perhaps, the import permit will be issued. Go Conservation Force!

Yea, this is what happens if you don't get the work done in Africa...skin panels, ears and ivory air freight.

Crates: (3)
(L) 62 x (W) 26 x (H) 14 inches weighing 154 lbs.
(L) 45 x (W) 28 x (H) 32 inches weighing 291 lbs.

My ivory, skin panels and ears just cleared US port. It was faster than I expected and I didn't have all of my ducks in a row for next steps.

I'm looking for ideas on little pedestals to mount the ivory from the floor....places that can tan and thin down ele hide panels...ideas on ele leather products...stateside sources for artistic ideas on ele ear paintings, etc. Anything located in the vicinity of DFW or north TX would be a plus.

Let's see some of your ideas and suggestions. It sounds like a number of us have ivory and ele trophies coming this way soon.

Congrats!

Nothing is cooler than a vintage Range Rover or FJ cruiser with elephant leather seats. If you’re a car guy, that’s what should happen to your leather. All the scraps get used to panel the dash, the boot around the stick shift, the pull handles. It’s righteous.

Covering a campaign bar in elephant is beautiful and it sets off a room’s decor.

Covering hard gun cases in elephant is another way to enjoy it.

Culling belts and sheaths are a timeless choice, same for Bino straps.

For the ivory, just do a google image search and figure out which design you like best. Use that guy, it’s all woodworking so the best ivory pedestal guy might not be the best animal hide taxidermy guy.

I don't have photos handy, but rather than the wastebaskets for the feet, I am making two arrow caddies. That will look a hell of a lot better than the old gold tip cardboard box I have in my den right now.

Following with interest. I’ve got one coming. And another hunt in a couple weeks.

I made grocery bags with excess giraffe hide. Super simple, very heavy duty, and they make me smile when I use them.
Talk about sticking your neck out at the supermarket :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
