Elephant Permit has been issued

Another group that needs to have much patience after the elephant hunt is your outfitter. As USFW asked for more and more information, Kowas was the key contact in Namibia for getting that information. They did a tremendous job over two years in after the hunt service.

Cheers and congratulations! What are you going to do with the trophy? Ie display tusks, barstools or bins with legs, anything with the leather, Africa display on ears etc etc? Or just a big shoulder mount?
That may be the hardest part of this hunt. After 36 years of marriage I know not to ask about the shoulder mount, net even in jesting.

Well done sir. The world has certainly changed. I imported my elephant in 2013 with none of this drama.

Very nice glad it came through.

Congratulations!

Now the hard part, just have the shoulder mount done and "Honey look what followed me home" You will only have to sleep in the shop for a month or two.

I just got off the phone with Conservation Force and they informed me that 3 Bots Elephants were approved last week and the first permit was approved today for South Africa. The only country on hold is Tanzania of which they expect them to start reviewing those applications in 2024.

I need to get mine started with CF. We have started emails on it.

The absolute best thing for elephant conservation, as well as general conservation, is to remove as much of the red tape as possible for imports and make importing easy for elephants from huntable populations, based on science and not emotion.

My elephant tusks and skin are in the USA and now are on the way to the taxidermist.

How long was your process and did you use anyone to facilitate?

In 2021 I had the honor to hunt an elephant in Namibia with Jacques Strauss of Kowas Safaris. Jacques and his crew did an outstanding job through all aspects of that hunt. It was an amazing event in my life that one day I might be able to tell in full through the written word. However, I am still gobsmacked every time I think of that hunt and my writting skills are not good enough to share that event.

Today, though, is about telling all of you that my import permit has been approved by the USFW. I am very thankful that my importer is a patient and persevering company. I possess neither one of those characteristics. I would venture to say that very few of ya’ll have those characteristics either. Go hunt elephants and just like hiring a Professional Hunter hire a Professional Importer. Get Your Elephant Home!

Congratulations! That’s wonderful. I look forward to hearing your story at some point. Given the crew here on the site, I think any account of a phenomenal Hunt would be welcomed and appreciated. none of us can get enough.

The tusks and skin are at the taxidermist. Katie at True Life Taxidermy in Graham, TX was nice enough and sent me the elephant hair bracelets.

That’s a thick bracelet! All of mine are thinner but I like having more of them. I also have bad luck on elephant tail hair…mine are all thin!

awesome bracelet. I would have to wear it daily if was mine.

Maybe one day…

Congrats again on the successes you found after the hunt by bringing home that special memory.

Congratulations again on your hunt and successful importation.

Also curious who your importer was and if you utilized conservation force on the legal side.

I got notice that Conservation Force has completed their application for my ivory import recently from my Oct hunt in Zim. They are predicting some backlog of around 1 year from US Customs.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!
