This hunt is for the open system in South Africa.

Elephant is non exportable, Hippo is exportable.

The only dates available for this hunt is from 26th Feb - 5th March 2025.

Do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.

Basic tented bush camp.

What is an "open system hunt." Please explain.

Good day Sir,

As you may know, South Africa does not have the big hunting blocks that is unfenced like most other African countries. So the open system in South Africa consist of a couple of big reserves that borders one of our big national parks. Unfortunately we are not allowed to mention the name of this National Park or the larger area which is made up of these smaller reserves in any off our adverts but I think you can put two and two together. The camp is situated on the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the Limpopo Area. The total open area in which the animals can move freely is over 2 500 000 hectors. The size of the reserve on which this hunt will take place is roughly 60 000 hectors. Open system just basically means it's not hunted on a ranch or farming land. Due to a cancelation we have a hippo and a non-exportable elephant available. The season runs from 1 April 2024 through to 31 March and then the new quota will be allocated. The only date available for this hunt is the one mentioned above.

Should you have any other questions please feel free to contact us. Look forward to hearing from you!

Regards
Valie

What size limit are you putting on that non-exportable elephant? There are some monsters there.

Any chance South Africa would ever change its law on. It allowing bow hunting for elephant and hippo?

Good day Flipper Dude,
The weight restriction for this hunt is 25 pounds. I will add some pictures of the 25 pounders that we have hunted last year just to give you a indication of size.

Good evening

At this stage I doubt it. There's a lot of pressure from the greenies to stop the hunting within these areas. So getting the powers that be to open hunting with a bow on elephant and hippo is most probably never going to happen. We continue to fight the good the good fight regarding conservation and hunting in RSA

just a few pictures of me and the skinning team and a few bulls on the concession area whilst on a recent hunt

Non-exportable means that no trophy can be brought outside of SA, correct?

Why is that restriction enforced?

I know it’s unlawful for hippo with a bow but didn’t realize there’s against elephant with a bow.

Good day Northern Shooter
Four years ago they canceled all our Cites permits on Elephant, leopard and Black Rhino never being issued till this day.
Currently there is a court case against our government and we are hopeful that things will change this year and that they will become exportable again.
During this time there were also no permits issued for overseas hunters to hunt elephant, even as a non exportable up until about six months ago.
Like I said we are hopeful that this will change.
Currently we make replicas of the tusks and I must say you will struggle to see the difference between the real one and the replica.

Good day Huntforever
Last year I had a client wanting to do a elephant hunt with the bow. When I enquired about it they informed me that they wont issue a permit for a bow hunt.
No explanation just a just a short and sweet NO.

Got to love that part of Africa. lol
There’s No law against it but the answer is still know. Zimbabwe is doing the same thing to bow hunters. Hopefully the future looks brighter

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
