This bull is 25 yards. I will eventually show a picture of where the bullet impacted and the results.

For fun you can name your caliber and bullet choice.

in between red and green, 458 lott cup point solids

The orientation of the head makes a such a difference. I'm going with @375Fox with just to the left of the red. EDIT - Forgot to mention what I'd use. 375H&H with Woodleigh Hydros.

For the cheaters in the crowd. ;)

Just left of green. .416 ruger because that's what I have, and used. But if I had a .375 in my hand it would be the same place.

none of them given the angle of the elephant. I would shoot to the left closer to the eye right between red and green

Red, 458 Lott with 500 grain solids.

Above the eye, level with the blue dot and 4 in to the right 458 lott woodlehigh Hydro Solids. Assuming the picture represents actual shooting position.

It can be done but I would wait. Being a little off on a head shot can mean a LONG day. They often move around while feeding and a few minutes can make a big difference. From 416 to 500 is what I have used.

Just left of low red. .416 Ruger with CEB solids.
I’ve never shot an elephant and probably never will.

Many of you called it correct. The bull is quartering to you and the dots are all too far right. This was a set up, sorry. The hunter shot the bull on the red dot.

In this first picture You can see dust blowing away from the bullet impact on the red dot. Needed to be more left of the dots to angle into the brain. The bullet most likely past in front left side of the brain.

The bull spins and runs away without the hunter making a follow up shot. The PH yelled to shoot again but the bull was gone. The hunter looks to have froze after the shot. Of course I do not know his circumstances. Maybe he had gun issues? Maybe unfamiliarity due to it being a loaner?

So they put a plane in the air to search and looked for the bull for 3 more days. On the third day they find the bull on the outskirts of a large herd.

The hunter then takes the opposite side frontal brain shot. the bulls left side forehead, and drops the bull instantly with a perfect frontal.

They don’t mention his rifle caliber or bullet design. I assume it’s a loner. Smaller barrel profile and suppressed. So I’m guessing it’s a .375H&H. The hunt is in Zimbabwe

I don’t post these “call the shots”, portraying myself as Dr Roberts. I am far from an expert on hunting DG.

I just enjoy the preparation aspect. And studying the animals anatomy and being ready quickly to assess where to aim and if I have the correct bullet and caliber for that angle.

I personally don’t want to rely solely on the PH telling me during those critical seconds. I need to be focused on my shot. Not learning anatomy at show time.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
