Today, we had the pleasure of hosting clients for a hunt in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, taking advantage of the late summer conditions that make this region so unique in February. With the bush thick and the game spread out, the hunt required patience and skill, but that only added to the adventure.
Our clients were after Impala and Springbuck. The morning started early, with a strategic spot-and-stalk approach, as the animals were most active during the cooler hours. After a bit of glassing, we found out targeted heard of springbuck. Not only did both of our hunters make excellent shots on two beautiful rams. They were also able to help us out and cull a few other rams.
Later in the day, we shifted focus to Impala, using the thick riverine vegetation to our advantage. Our patience paid off when a mature ram presented itself in a brief clearing, offering an ethical shot opportunity. The excitement and satisfaction on our client’s face made it clear why hunting in the Eastern Cape is such a special experience. We were able to finish off the evening with a few other excellent trophies.
Beyond the hunt, our guests enjoyed the incredible scenery, warm hospitality, and the unique atmosphere of South Africa in the summer. February may not be the peak season, but for those willing to take on the challenge, it delivers a truly authentic and rewarding hunt.
Looking forward to more hunts like this in the coming days! If you’re interested in experiencing a classic Eastern Cape safari, now is the perfect time to book.
