East Texas Mountain Lion

View attachment 652352View attachment 652353My uncle Hank with a otters he killed in his backyard I guess Forrest otters, black bears, mountain lions are making a comeback or are getting displaced by urban sprawl
Otters are hell on fish farmers, when I was in high school I made a living trapping otters and beavers on fish farms. Back then you could get $100 for a good otter and $50 for a “blanket” beaver.

We've gotten river otters on game cam in our little sandy-bottom creek in West Feliciana parish (just north of Baton Rouge). No idea why they'd be in the creek, nothing swimming in it but minnows, and not many of those. We have problems from time to time on that creek with beavers as well.

Cougars used to be fairly common around Houston. U of H chose that as their mascot for a pretty good reason.

It may not be in our lifetimes, but I'd bet money jaguars will once again roam Texas, at least along the border. There is no shortage of white tail, aoudad, axis, fallow, blackbuck, feral sheep, feral hogs, etc. I'd imagine even nilgai would be fair game for a big cat like that.

There was a pic of one in Arizona not that long ago on the web. According to this they're to some degree in Texas now.

I know they used to live as far to the east as the Mississippi River. Last known one killed in Louisiana was 1905, near Donaldsonville, about halfway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans on the west side of the river.

I've seen several videos on the handful that have made their way to AZ. Pretty cool.

Don’t forget Floridas got a bunch now since they moved western cougars to bring back the Florida Panther.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
