Duplicating the .318 WR...

Thank you kindly. Yes, I am going to work on such a load, I want to use it as a bush-veld hunting load to hunt on walk and stalk hunts. I will use this load on warthog, Impala, Blue-wildebeest , kudu and Eland...I really think this will ensure extremely deep penetration. I will use bullets from Stewart's custom bullets, Hansie Minnaar the new owner will make these 250 gn bullets for me.
I will approach Kobus Du Plessis from Impala bullets also to make me 250 gn bullets as well to do a test with these two kinds of bullets.

The most I get out of my Brno 21H 8x57JS with 198 grain bullet is 2500 fps. However, I do get 2500 FPS with a 250 grain bullet in my .35 Whelen. either the Whelen or the .338-06 would duplicate the .318WR nicely. But I think 250@2500 would stress most 8x57 rifles too much.

Longwalker, thank you for the information in this regards, it really is much appreciated. It seems I will be using the 220 gn bullet and not expect to be duplicating the .318 WR loads and results with a 250 gn bullet...still I think the 220 gn will be a good penetrating set up in bush-veld conditions as well..

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
