booked my room for DSC. I hope it is happening. I really look forward to going for the first time. Driving in from Alabama. hope to see you all there
Was that when Phil looked like he was dying?I am expecting to attend again this year. I will be treating it just like the year the flu outbreak was rampant during the show. And before anyone jumps all over me, I am not comparing Covid to the flu, just using the same precautions.
An official announcement from Safari Club International.Looks like there may be some dissapointing news on the way for those hoping to attend SCI.
@Pheroze, I agree with you, but SCI had to face reality. With regulations around COVID-19 changing all the time, and with second or third waves panicking politicians, it's impossible to plan a huge event like this. Better they should cancel it some months in advance rather than wait until the last minute to see if it could go ahead. We need events and social gatherings. The approach completely ignores other determinants of health. Terrible.
I agree, the comment was really directed at the politicians.@Pheroze, I agree with you, but SCI had to face reality. Personally, I wanted to go this year (I rarely miss), but the idea of potentially quarantining for two weeks upon my return meant that it was an easy decision to stay home. I won't quarantine for two weeks for a three day trip to Vegas.
(I note, though, that Westjet announced a pilot project today which would see Canada provide rapid testing for arriving passengers who would only be required to quarantine for 2 days if the test returned negative.)
Unfortunately, we can't know if this will last, if it will work, or frankly anything else. Uncertainty is the enemy of planning, as usual.
