DSC 2025 get together

Most of the Texas hunters I know are skipping DSC in Atl. Maybe a sort of soft boycott so to speak. I will miss catching up with you. The Dallas crew you met is hunting with me in early December. I’m considering making SCI in Nashvillle.

Agreed- Announcing the move to Atlanta for 5 years the week after I bought my DSC life membership really pissed me off.

I’m thinking I’ll attend Nashville and join SCI.

@375Fox …. As for petty, if you had a choice of vacationing in either Atlanta or Nashville what would you choose?

Personally if DSC had the show in Vegas for 5 years I’d be all in and I’m not a fan of Vegas either but at least it’s better than Atlanta!

So you equate a perceived tone as someone rooting for a failure, and can’t show a single case of someone actually calling for a downfall?

And this warrants a feeling of sadness?

Seems a bit ridiculous and extreme to me…

How about we stick to fact based evidence?

Good leaders don’t want or need yes men or cheerleaders…

DSC made a decision (move to Atlanta)…

Numerous DSC vendors have expressed concern over the decision (without calling for failure)…

Numerous DSC life members have expressed concern over the decision (without calling for failure).

Numerous Texans (life member or not) have expressed concern over this decision (without calling for failure)…

It would be prudent for DSC to listen to its membership and to its vendors… whether their decision was the correct one or not… since this is where their revenue and support comes from..

If DSC is to thrive (not just survive), it’s important that DSC receive honest feedback from the people and organizations that support DSC…

Members of the DSC board and past presidents of DSC are members here… they are also members of other online venues where life members and vendors frequent…

Should people just cheer and welcome any decision made by the DSC board whether they think that decision is sound or not? Or does DSC obtain greater benefit from vendor and members honesty?

At the end of the day, numerous people are clearly dissatisfied with DSCs decision on Atlanta.. and are further dissatisfied with DSCs messaging over the decision… these people are all stakeholders in DSC…

Dissatisfied does not equate to a desire for failure.. sensible stakeholders don’t want organizations they are affiliated with to fail..

What stakeholders want is for the organization they are affiliated with to do is learn and thrive..

There is a huge difference..

And certainly nothing for an emotional response like sadness to be part of

If you’d like to stick to facts there is a disproportionate number of Texas AH members publicly stating they won’t go to Atlanta and will go to Nashville or TTHA show instead. Very few seem willing to recognize any possible positives to the move. Your search function works as well as mine and you can draw whatever conclusion you’d like.

Except it isn’t a vacation. Most going to the DSC or SCI show will spend their time at the show, in their hotel, or at a bar or restaurant then go home. Saying they don’t like Atlanta is a convenient excuse, but a city is largely the same as any other city for most people visiting for a convention.

You’re starting to sound like Karine Jean-Pierre

You make a statement

That statement can’t be substantiated by fact… but you express a negative emotion in support of it…

When confronted with the facts.. you attempt to move the goal posts as a defense…

You are absolutely correct… a huge number of Texans… many of whom are life members of DSC, are not going to Atlanta… as stated above they are dissatisfied with DSCs decision…

DSC would be wise to note that texas presents a huge percentage of its membership base… in fact there are more members in Texas than all other states combined the last I checked… remember the whole chapter concept is still relatively new for DSC…

That said, Texans are not the only people dissatisfied… there are plenty of others from other locations also stating they disagree with the Atlanta decisions.. and that don’t intend on going to Atlanta..

DSC would be prudent in listening to all of those dissatisfied people that are publicly stating they prefer SCI and Nashville… as well as those saying they’ll just stay home in Texas and look at TTHA… because those are the people that foot the bill for DSC by in large..

So what if there are possible positives?

If there are clear detriments, it makes you sad that those get addressed?

Bud Light didn’t consider its customer base when it made a major decision not all that long ago…. Their marketing vp also argued possible positives and ignored the clear risks…

How’d that work out for them?

How many show attendees have you asked if this is a vacation?

Most I know that travelled to Dallas absolutely considered it a vacation…

They were attending the convention for fun… it’s absolutely as much about enjoying yourself as it is about anything else..

Most attendees don’t buy hunts… that is only a small fraction of the people that walk through the door…

Most come to spend social time with like minded people and to attend events outside of the show in addition to going to the convention floor each day… like the AH dinner… or vendor parties.. and most I know go see a few sites around the city as well while they are in town?

Saying a city is like any other city is nothing shy of preposterous… do you really think attending a conference in Dearborn is the same as Reno? Or Memphis the same as Nashville? Or Pittsburg the same as Denver?

That is impossible in a different city? You’re making my points for me whether you’ll accept it or not. I hope Atlanta is successful.

Re-read the edited post above… we were typing at the same time…

No one said impossible (another Karine argument by you)…

What has been said by far more people than can be counted is Atlanta is not appealing to a huge number of past DSC participants..

Those same people have said over and over again that they understand DSC needing to move… but Atlanta is not somewhere they support

What it boils down to is you claim sadness.. I find that childish and ridiculous.. you claim people want dsc to fail but can’t provide evidence.. and you don’t want to listen to thousands of dsc stakeholders.. members and vendors that all clearly are dissatisfied.. instead you think everyone should just get on board…

I should add… I hope you’re not offended… I certainly am not…

I’d gladly drink beers and debate the DSC decision with you until we’re both too drunk to stand…

I just don’t think disagreement with DSC is the same thing as desiring failure…

In fact I’ve said numerous times I hope the show is a success… we need a strong DSC and SCI…

I’m just not willing personally to spend a week in Atlanta to support that success …

DSC does still get thousands of my dollars annually though in other endeavors..

Lolololol…. Atlanta is to Nashville as Mogadishu is to Paris.

if I have to travel to a show then I’ll go to the shows in places I want to go to vs traveling to places I don’t care for to see the show I want….. it’s a hunting show, not a Greatful Dead concert!

I’m sure there are benefits to moving the show to Atlanta, but I’m not aware of any that benefit me in any way.

I wish DSC success in their endeavors and when the show returns to Dallas so will I.

But until then I’ll visit shows I haven’t been to in cities that I want to visit; while exploring other venues and organizations vs traveling around the country for the same show at different locations…. Like Dead heads do

My take:
(1) most folks were concerned that Atlanta would be a failure for DSC, not that they want DSC to fail.
(2) DSC sold out booth space, so that revenue stream is secure this year.
(3) remain to be seen what the foot traffic revenue will be.
(4) members were mad about how the change was announced.
(5) members were even more upset, that the move was not necessary this show, as evidenced by SCI/TTHA taking the Dallas show dates and location.

So to me personally, I have zero interest is going to Atlanta. When I was practicing law in had a client in marietta that I had to visit once or twice a year. Seen enough concrete in Atlanta, Except for seeing the Coke museum, I have zero interest in going back. ATL airport is very efficient and lots of direct flights. I am already booked for 2025. I suspect it will be successful.

That’s an absurd comparison regarding Atlanta and Nashville. Atlanta has much better restaurants, equal if not better hotels, vastly superior airport, superior convention center.

It does not have the huge downtown bar nightlife area. Nashville is more of a tourist destination. I certainly don’t see Atlanta as being any worse than Dallas.

Can we move all of the Atlanta DSC move drama to the original DSC thread???

I’d like to keep this one clear for those who are attending in Atlanta and would like to meet up.
That's my fault and I apologize!

I'm still game for a meet up in Atlanta at the DSC show.

Back to the original question regarding a AH get-together in Atlanta, I'm down for it even if it is drinks in the center court. We will be there for the entire time as both volunteers and as media. We skip banquets as they aren't my wife's thing.

A) Im coming over the UK for the show and see chums
B) I like the idea of getting to gather for some drinks etc in the centre court and if we want to continue into the evening we can make some plans and go with that.

Shall we say meet up on the friday at the bar about 1430hrs?? Or is that too early? Im British and happy to start drinking from 0800

I would love that idea on Friday. I am taking one of my PHs to dinner on Thursday night but come on what’s wrong with a 12:00 beer in center court on Friday? I’m in!!!!!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
