Like some of the above have posted...it looks like the pictures were taken a few days after the incident. Probably we will never know the real story...such as:
1. Was he really trying to test whether or not a .45 would go thru a steel toe shoe?
Or...and I consider this the more plausible
2. Negligence on his part such as drawing or holstering the weapon...or just plain not paying attention and shooting himself in the foot.
In any case if it is #1, then I cannot believe he would post the after pictures and tell on himself
If #2 then I guess we should be proud of his posting it, call it a public service warning of what not to do if you will.
Foxi, thank you for this thread. I laughed and laughed. Reminds me of when I was a sergeant in the NYPD. Used to be that you could count on these things during every holiday (A little drinking, a little smoking). We would escort the moron, I mean victim, to the hospital, them arrest them. Fun times, fun times.
Of course the sad part is that they can vote.
There's a picture like that at Birchwood Shooting Park in Alaska that someone did with their shotgun they rested on their shoe with the breech closed thinking it was empty. It amazes me shotgunners still do it. Don't get arrogant folks.
In 2003 and 2004 in Iraq, we (U.S.) retrained and reestablished an Iraqi police force. My unit was tasked with setting up and training personel for a federal police agency based in Baghdad. Six men out of my company were trained by Glock as armorers. I happened to be one.
A supply of thousands of new Glock 19's were delivered and the training of Iraqis in the use of the Glock began.
Long story short:
Several "recruits" and a couple of veteran supposed police officers were spinning a loaded and chambered Glock on their fingers like John Wayne and stuffing the pistol in their pants like gangsters.
Ended up with a bullet through an ass cheek and one through a groin.
Man that was some funny shit...
I believe he got his research question answered.
I would have thought to undertake this so-called research, the person would have set the boot up as a target other than on himself.
Luckily he didn't lose his big toe otherwise he would have difficulty in walking and balancing.
Hopefully a lesson learned for all!
