I live 50 air miles from town. No road to get there. It’s fly or ferry. When I moved here in 1996 a ticket for the 20 minute flight on a single engine was $60 each way. Today it is $150-$180 each way, depending on how you book it. After we get to town, our choice is Alaska Airlines or….Alaska Airlines. They are in a position to rob us blind, however, all things being equal, they really are somewhat “gentle”. We use the credit card they sponsor for their miles program, and it’s a decent deal. We run every business expense we can on the card, pay the balance every month, and rack - up the miles.
My family and I went to Belize this year first-class all on miles. First time ever for us to do that, the conclusion was a bit more comfortable seat, free drinks, a marginal meal, and same dawdling cabin service from geriatric flight attendants.
