Does the 243 win have a place in Africa?

Well the pictures posted speak volumes. 243 will take down smaller game just like it will a deer. I agree with some though that if it were me hunting I would always take something bigger as to not limit my choices on PG. My two cents worth!

The OP originally posted that 1. He owns this gun. 2. It's a great shooter he likes and trusts. 3. He will take a larger gun for bigger game.... 4. HE IS TAKING IT FOR HIS 11 & 8 YEAR OLD CHILDREN! 5. I'm betting by NOT buying another gun he can pay for an extra Impalla or something for the kids to shoot.

I agree with all the blather about there being better calibers... But to answer his question ... This is the ideal gun given the above points! He should take it and enjoy it with his kids!

Now of course if those kids were at least 12 years old, by all means he ought to ditch that pop gun and get them a 470 NE! HA HA

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
