Custom Remington 788 LEFT HAND .308 Win with Leupold 2.5X compact scope. LOP 12 1/2 inches.
Custom Remington 788 LEFT HAND 375 Butch with base and rings, no scope. LOP 13 3/8 inches.
I built this pair of guns for my son a few years back. I worked for Remington at the time and I chose the 788 action because it is STRONG and incredibly accurate (It was used by several benchrest shooters I knew). The removable magazine was a big plus. The 308 was the first, so the stock is shortened to a LOP of 12 1/2 inches. I have some great reduced load data for the little 308 using the Speer 130 gr flat nose that is designed to expand at 30-30 velocities. He killed several deer and hogs, along with 6 more animals in Africa with the little 308. When we planned a cape buffalo hunt in Zambia for my son's 13th birthday, I designed a short action 375 which is the 284 Win case necked up and blown out with a 40 degree shoulder. It comes close to factory 375HH ballistics but fits in a short action. Fred Huntington suggested I name it after my kid so it became the 375 Butch. Clymer made the reamer and RCBS made the dies, both I am including in the sale. Olie Olsen at E.R. Shaw made and fitted the medium weight barrel. I am including 40 formed cases and 40 new 284 Win cases ready for forming. I will not send any loaded ammo for obvious reasons, but I will include some dummies and load data for the 375B. Also a set of Leupold rings and bases for the 788. I thoroughly tested the round for feed and ejection since my 13 year old son would be using it for dangerous game. Butch killed a big buff with one shoulder shot with it. Also a huge record book roan. I want to pass these on to someone that has a young southpaw, so I want to sell the pair for $2000 including everything I mentioned. Christmas is coming!
