Discontinued Product Frustration

My list:
1.) Alliant powders.......esp. the shotgun/pistol ones.
2.) the following powders discontinued by Hodgdon when they took over DuPont and Winchester: H414, SR 4756, 800-X, IMR 4320, and all those that ares "supposedly" still in production, but can't be found ANYWHERE!
3.) Winchester silvertip bullets (older style), esp. the 170 grain flat point for the 30/30.
4. ) Speer 3/4 jacket bullets in .357 and . 44 caliber (146 gain JHP and 225 grain JHP, respectively.
5. ) all Remington shotgun wads, esp. those in 20 gauge.
6.) Jones caps

  • Left-handed Winchester Model 70's
  • Nice XXL hats. If the tag says "One Size Fits All", they don't mean me. When I find one I like that fits, I always buy multiples.
  • Swarovski 1-6x24 EE. Generous eye relief is often a priority in a scope purchase.
  • Rugged fixed scopes especially in the lower power ranges. I like my simple Leupold Big Bore.

@odonata
And here's me thinking you could get a hat to fit any size head in Texas.
The only thing that looks worse than an ugly hat is seeing
A ten gallon hat on a 5 gallon head just so they can look taller.

I’ve got another one. Filson seems to have discontinued their Feather Cloth shirts. The quality had already deteriorated but that was the last remaining classic cotton field shirt I know of with box-pleated pockets that button.

Somebody help me find an option for a decent cotton shirt in olive or dark khaki!

I’m so sick of everything being “technical” outdoor inspired polyester, fruity crap. Men don’t look like men anymore.

Filson is based in Seattle. Any questions?

The Garcia 5000 belongs in the fishing hall of fame. I have 3 of them plus a 7000. They're all over 40 years old and work like new.
@Stormy Kromer
Had a beautiful Abu Garcia 6500C until some low life bastard stole it and my rod while I was at work. Best reel I ever had.

Winchester 760 is the exact same powder as H414. I’ve seen it lately.

Ebay has a selection of used Filson feather cloth if you don't mind pre worn.

Westley Richards has a nice selection of lighter weight shirts too, if you don’t mind selling your gun to get one.

It's pretty crazy that the old American standard hunting/farming clothing companies have become commie/woke.

Carhartt/Filson/Levi...

Clothing originally made for miners, loggers, farmers, and hunters.

Sometimes, you just have to "hold your nose" and get the stuff you like anyway.

Nothing tops Abercrombie & Fitch.

I know, only the "name" has changed hands, but it's crazy to be that they have gone from this:

Pathetic!

I know it's a low dollar complaint, but pre- merger Cabelas actually made decent quality stuff. Basic camo and shirts at a decent price that would hold together. Now two things. One, everything is (as another poster noted) stupidly expensive technical fabric stuff, and two, organized by brand in the store. So if I want pants I have to search every manufacturers section to look for them. Silly. As a buddy said the other day when I suggested we pop by Cabelas (I guess now ours is a Bass Pro), "Why? You'll just be disappointed. " Sad.

Now where's that $100 Kuiu vest I laid down somewhere...

I have 4 pre-merger Cabela's safari shirts (100% cotton) and 1 jacket.

IMO, they are perfect!

I would not take $1,000 for them.

Filson is a company I never got into. When I first tried to get into them they were having quality control and sizing issues. In the 2005 era I tried a waxed jacket, it was not for me.

Every time I see something from them, now I just don't care. I think I either missed the point of it all, and their quality burned me so I am out.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
