Discontinued Product Frustration

The disappearance of dangerous game rifles and ammo has been notable and frustrating in recent years.

-Ruger RSM rifles
-Dakota 76 rifles
-CZ550 rifles
-Sako 85 rifles (magnum actions)
-Sako big bore ammo
-Nosler big bore ammo (discontinued a handful of calibers)

I regretfully agree :/. The frustration has only increased with age.

Perhaps I should start a thread to notify the group of information we receive about discontinued things?
That would be most helpful !

I guess I don’t get all of the dislike for Leupold CDS scopes, I buy them and just ignore the CDS function. Sight in the scope and use as always and ignore the dialing on the turret???
I was going to ask the same thing, they may have changed but the 3 I have are just regular scopes with the option to get a CDS turret. I don’t think I’ve bought one since 2014 or 15 though.

Abu Garcia reels pre-PureFishing takeover. Yeah, they have screwed them up--read the reviews. That corp. cheapens everything they take over.

I started a post for news and notices of discontinued products but I don't see it now - perhaps it violated the terms of the site and was taken down?
I still see it. Here is a link.

Remington Safari Grade ammunition loads with 200 grain Swift A-Frames in 300 Win Mag.

Buick Park Avenue with a 3800 engine.

The Garcia 5000 belongs in the fishing hall of fame. I have 3 of them plus a 7000. They're all over 40 years old and work like new.

P.S: The European Union confirmed last month that within three years, they’ll be banning use of all lead hunting ammunition (for both rifles & shotguns). So if anybody has a favorite European lead cored rifle bullet or lead shotgun shell… I highly recommend stockpiling before production ceases completely.
This will become a huge headache. Especially for the multitude of older express rifles in small-medium bore rifles which are often used on driven game. There should be a lot of 9.3x74r rifles coming up for sale...

unfortunately, we are participating in a dying sport and the market for the younger crowd is now controlling the supply and demand. Newer whiz bang calibers that fill NO niche take the basic supply from manufacturing what we want....Guess we are also a dying breed.

I’m the same way with Leupold scopes that don’t have the silly adjustable turrets! I think I have eight or so sitting in the shelf lol

I feel this. I added an M1 turret to two of mine and after a few months wanted to go back. They closed the custom shop in the interim. Yuck

And yes, I also have scopes on the shelf. Some heavier duplex 2.5s and also several 1.5x5s. Ain’t no way I’ll sell them in this day and age b

I wish they would bring back IMR4320 powder. I have a few older wildcats and the load data I can find use this powder. I am sure there are other solutions but I do not feel like reinventing the wheel. I have zero hopes of this powder coming back.

Not an item truly discontinued but custom Russell boots. They don’t build to fit anymore.

LL Bean Briar Glove. Best wing shooting glove ever. I had my last pair repaired so many times I don’t know how they held together at the end. Well I guess they eventually didn’t.

Original filson waxed cotton caps.

B&P high pheasant 2 1/2 inch shotgun shells.
I just bought a Conner Portland waxed canvas hat because Filson stopped making them. Here’s a photo from their website.

Hear!!! hear!!!!

I absolutely detest stretch stuff.
I respectfully disagree.

After attending my last High School reunion, I'd say the overwhelming majority of my graduating class of 1981 could use some spandex, as well as Jenny Craig.

Try to get that image out of your mind the rest of the day. You are welcome.

I just need to remember a young lady that rode past me on a bicycle many years ago. She was so beautiful and that spandex fit so well I got weak kneed.

But I have also seen some spandex stretched to it's limits.

Listened to a Podcast form Gunwerks the other day and they were talking about the reason they make the Skull rifle in 375 and 416 Ruger is that no one is really making anything for that market.

I mean granted it is a push feed 700 for $8000, but you could shoot a duikers eye out with it at 300 yards.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
