Folks can I get feedback on who you’ve had good experiences with? Going out this year so really need some recommendations. Appreciate it’s a huge country but most places seem happy to drive a distance to collect.

It’s about the final step I really need to iron out so any help is really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Did your outfitter provide a recommendation? I typically go with the outfitter’s recommendation so there is some accountability. Just confirm price list is within market range. Then you can confirm with past clients they were happy with work. No reason to make things more difficult than they need to be.

All depends on area? Outfitter usually has someone close to do it.

Thanks folks. Sounds like I shouldn’t be as fussy about who does the D&P? All fairly standard and the skinners and taxidermist more important?

I haven’t seen dip and pack from any country or taxidermy that wasn’t acceptable. It’s up to you to decide how much of your time saving a few dollars is worth if you are looking for cheaper options. I go with outfitter’s recommendation to keep it easy. I don’t see why I shouldn’t trust the quality from their recommendation if I trust the outfitter I chose.

IT'S ALL THEY DO swiftdip.za.co

Some of the pricing is outrageous. Going through your Outfitter probably assures that he gets a kickback, then the dip and pack may get a kickback from the shipping company. Not saying to buck that wind if you don't want to. Just be aware it blows ;)

Not sure if it's the right thing to do but we are giving AGH shipping and taxidermy a go this time bundling it all together has resulted in very competitive quotes.

I haven't used swifdip but have seen some positive reports.

If you are in the Polokwane area Trophy Solutions did really good dip and pack (According to my US taxidermist) for me in August 2023. Prices were right in line with a couple of other places I looked at.

Watching with interest

Big question is, where are you hunting?

It does no good if you are hunting in the northern part of South Africa and someone recommends one in Port Elizabeth.

Thanks bud. It’s actually the opposite, I’d rather pay more for a good job and make sure the stuff arrives back in good condition.
If the end result is otherwise similar then that’s fine. Basically after a good end product and good communication/timescales.

Fair point! I thought most of these guys did rounds and collected all over. Maybe local is the way to go
