Dakota 76, Kimber, or something else...

I think “quality” is subjective. I haven’t owned a Dakota, only handled a few. If you were looking at a .416 Rigby or other DG cartridge, I’d say Dakota is a great value. In .300wm, I think you’ll be happy with a Winchester.
Understand but will it as good a quality of a Dakota? I don’t know

Parkwest now builds the old Dakota actions and rifles. I have 4 and they are well worth the price. Accurate, smooth, balanced.

Your 4K may also get you someone else’s custom

For that price you might consider a semi-custom from Matrix Gunsmithing. On a limited basis, he plans to offer an African Safari Classic full featured
Rifle using CZ 550 magnum or medium actions.

I have 2 Kimbers in 375 HH and Altho they are older rifles and have been hunted they have never given any issues.
Only issue I see today is they have appreciated approximately 2/3 times what I paid originally

I'm sure they do, but 12 K+ is out of my budget for this gun.

Dakotas seem to at least maintain their price or appreciate in many cases..

Kimber select grades will be available from time to time~2k. Usually have very nice wood. Win 70 Supergrades about same $. CRF a requirement? Ruger Africans great rifles if you can take the muzzle break

Thanks, What do you mean by select grades, please elaborate is model BGR 89 a select grade?. CRF would be nice but not mandatory. Wood stock for sure.

Select grade is wood stocked. Sometimes with ebony tip. Pistol grip cap. Blued finish. Yes a “BGR” wood stock would probably be. It’s an earlier iteration. 84L or 84M would be latest generation rifles. Later rifles may be matte. If I remember bgr are blued gloss. All of the rifles you have described have been a crf. Guns international has several

I have this long-term wish to add a fourth rifle to my arsenal. It will be a 7X57 or a 300 Win mag (undecided) caliber. I have never owned a Dakota or a Kimber but I hear mostly good things about them though I have also read Kimber has had some issues.

I'm open to other brands as well, looking for your advice..
@SStomcat
A nice Kimber Montana in 280AI would be the best of both worlds.
