By Friday I will be the owner of a CZ550 375 H&H, it is used but looks like new.

It has a beautiful walnut stock on it which is in mint condition. As this rifle is likely to get some abuse I want to get a replacement weatherproof stock and keep the original in A1 condition.

I have found a Boyds stock that I like. It comes in short and long action, but no mention of magnum action.

I have tried to find out if CZ's long action is the same length as magnum action but Google is yet to find me a definitive answer.

Does anyone know for certain whether the CZ550 Boyds long action stock will fit my 375 H&H?

Not sure about Boyds but from McMillan and Richards website, they list different numbers for short, long and magnum actions. Maybe the Boyds long action would just need a little Drimmel or file work to open it up a bit.

McMillan shows a specific stock for CZ magnums:

Richards shows 3 sizes.

Thanks for the info, it seems that the action length 7 7/8@" for long action and 8" for magnum, I may take a chance and order one and see how much work it will require to modify, if not then I will just use the original and cringe every time it takes a knock!!

The .375 H&H 550 is built on CZ's Magnum action I believe. They used to build the 550 in other smaller calibers like 7x57, .30-06 and .338 WM. I believe those were built on the long action. They have since gone to the push feed 557. I've never owned one but I have fondled quite a few. That action is CAVERNOUS! It is one of the incredibly few actions that will house a .505 Gibbs cartridge.

You could always contact Boyds and ask them.. maybe save yourself a bit of hassle.

I know this is a few months old, but I've been looking for a stock for a similar gun (bbk-02) and found the Bell & Carlson, its what CZ uses for their synthetic. A bit under $300, several colors in stock. Boyds or Richards will probably have a longer lead time since this is not a common inlet

How did you go? I suspect they are not interchangeable as the Magnum length will have different hole to hole spacing than the long action.

I thank all of you for all of your help and wonderful advice! I have located and purchased a beautiful like new CZ 550 safari .375 h&h from Cabela's. They had one listed at a store in Pennsylvania and after having them send me many pictures if it I purchased it from them and they are transferring it to my local Cabela's store! I can post pictures when I take delivery! After much research I decided that for me and the hunting I will be doing that the .375 h&h would get the most use and still be capable when the time comes for that buffalo in a few years! I will be putting a 1-5 power Leupold on this and I have a 2.5-8 on my 9.3x62 so that makes room for both of them in my arsenal

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
