I have a CZ 550 in 416, this rifle has an issue with the mag box. The rounds do not want to go down into the box. It is likely and easy fix, seems like the ribs on the inside of the box are too snug and they don't want to let the rounds go in, almost like the side of the cartridge is dragging against the ribs on the inside of the mag box. You can load it, it just takes some finagling. The rifle also has some slight pitting on the bolt knob. Other than that it is in pretty good shape. The wood is not beat up and the rest of the metal is good. I think it could be remedied pretty easily by a decent Smith or if you are a home gunsmith and want a project gun this may be what you are looking for. The recoil pad looks aftermarket to me and it is not in great shape.
She is definitely a fixer upper, but it may be a cheap way to get into a 416, since a new CZ pretty much needs a trip to the gunsmith anyway.
Considering the price they are going for now, with a couple hundred dollars at the gunsmith you'll still be in this rifle way cheaper than buying a new old stock one.
$1200 or best offer. I'm also not opposed to trade, or partial trade. I need some R8 stuff if anyone has scope bases and such.

If I had a nickel. Someone will be along shortly to suggest someone who can turn it into a useful rifle. There is something of a cottage industry out there in getting the 550 to feed, load, and all those other things a bolt action should do leaving the factory. The good news is that a competent gunsmith can make them work and they are then solid rifles. Though you likely will no longer have much of a bargain. Try the search function - it has been a periodic topic. Good luck with it.

I have went the way of the R8 so I'm parting with most of my other stuff in order to gather the ever so expensive R8 barrela and scope mounts and such. I figured this rifle would be a good deal for someone wanting to get into thier first big bore rifle or someone who likes to tinker with them and could fix it themselves. As always I'm open to offers on it. It's never gonna be a beauty queen, but with a little work it would definitely do some killing.

As far as gunsmith go, my recommendation would be Matt at MNR customs. He did the work on my 500 Jeffrey and he is a super dude to deal with and he does top notch work in a reasonable amount of time

@Backyardsniper you are starting to remind me of Toby. It’s a good thing I have a 416, or else I would be pissing my wife off with another gun.
Curious thing is the other 416 I sold used to belong to Toby and the R8 I just bought from Toby. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: its like the kitchen counter mafia:cool:

If anyone has a modicum of skill tuning an action, this would be a great buy. I have a wonderful custom 404 on a 550. When made right, they are bomb proof.

Congrats on sale.
Even with all I been thru was contemplating on it for a project rifle.
Glad someone else bought it.

Glad someone saved your ass. You get better first, then you can buy a new project.
