good day everyone, does anyone know what the current fees are when Taxidermy arrives in the USA to clear? Customs, Fish and Wildlife, and Agriculture Dept no Pigs or Cities just a Kudu and Cow Buffalo thanks Jim

Last year I paid zero fees to CBP, USFWS, and Ag to clear my crate. No swine, primates, or CITES, all finished plains game.

In March 2024 my Kudu and Impala skull/horns from Zimbabwe were flagged for inspection in Houston. Every taxidermist I called seemed to have different fee structures and I think almost everyone was around $250 per animal. So for an extra couple hundred I just went with mounting on wood. This was after paying Coppersmith to import which was ~$1k total not including shipping.

Did Coppersmiths charge $1000? I have never paid more than around $550 that I can remember. I also just checked their website and their base clearance fee is$475. If I remember correctly the extra cost was for USDA. I believe their fee was a base of $50 and for every animal above 5 it was $10 each.
I just did a little more research, they have added a few charges since I last imported. Base is still $475 but with transfers and courier fees it can run up to $855.

Just looked it up, my final bill was $1185 - some of that was transport since I had to pay for the transfer of the skulls to the taxidermist.

I pick my crates up in Atlanta. I did edit my post with some “extra” fees.

To specifically answer your question- USFW and Ag Dept do not charge extra fees to my knowledge.

The fees you are referring to, as alluded to by others here, is with your importer and possibly the shipping airline

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.
