Would you hunt with a Safari Company that required Covid vaccination for all hunters and staff?

After my wife and I having a bad case of Covid we had our entire staff to have Covid Vaccinations. Here is my question, should Safari Companies require all visiting hunters to have had full vaccination for Covid? Believe me I believe in personal rights as much as anyone, but I am asking for everyones opinion.

No. I would not. Currently, my son's stepmother is on a vent in ICU with COVID and it is not looking good at all for her. She has been "fully vaccinated". I personally do not support any organization of any sort that would force a covid shot.

To be honest I am not for forced vaccinations and excluding people who or not vaccinated. I am fully vaccinated myself btw.

What is the problem if you and the staff are vaccinated? Covid will be endemic so vaccinated or not we will have to live with it.

Again I am asking opinions, not expressing a view.

Minutes ago I was made aware of. A Zim PH who does hunts for us was asked by another Safari co. to fill in for the owner/PH, who was hospitalized with Covid during a leopard hunt. Now the PH and the entire camp were quarantined by National Parks for 14 days. I believe the client was able to leave the country before National Parks were made aware of the incident. The PH may not be able to start his hunt with a 3rd company before his quarantine is over (assuming he tests negative).

I would prefer another company if possible for what I am after.

The point your describing has more to do with shitty regulation. Vaccinated or not your are still contagious. But if your vaccinated and contagious, you can still fly because your are not getting tested. Same with all the quarantines. It seems that your motivation for people to be vaccinated has more to do with financial motives than medical. And I get that.
And that has to do with authoritarian politicians and their crusade to make life miserable for anyone not following their dictates.

I am a reluctant vaccine taker - I did it simply in the hope of future travel

This response might not be what you are seeking, but I'm forever writing Safety Management protocols and RA etc for outdoor companies here in the UK and it is an issue that keeps cropping up

It might boil down to your H & S laws and exposure to litigation (in the country of the clients - not necessarily yours) and requirements of your insurance company.

You have to balance risk of loss of bookings (putting people off) against risk of illness of staff or infection of clients.

Requiring people to be vaccinated goes some way to demonstrating 'due diligence'

Could be that the travel and immigration rules solve that one for you

there are of course other ways of mitigating the risk - demonstration of a clear lateral flow test on arrival and departure (not fool proof I know) might be an alternative strategy

I'd prefer a fully vaccinated company and would have no issues if that was required from me as a client. After all vaccines give good (although not 100%) protection agains COVID.

We have valid empirical data going back to the smallpox vaccine demonstrating that vaccination is the best way to go.

Next time you meet a flat earth type who argues that vaccination is wrong, ask that person to look up what happens to children whose mothers contract rubella whilst pregnant. Deafness, blindness and brain damage! They cannot dismiss the existence of such unfortunate people in the community because there are still too many out there. We all know that tetanus vaccinations keep us alive BUT actual rubella victims are more compelling evidence to those pinheads than absence of tetanus (lockjaw) deaths in their own community.

No I would not. Do research on the shot it’s not a vaccine

No I would not, It’s not a vaccine, research mRNA and see how this works.

No I would not.

Great if the staff is all vaccinated. I too had a severe case of Covid-19. Fortunately I survived in spite of the treatment in the hospital. I should have better immunity than people who got the shot. Furthermore there seems to be more adverse reactions to the Covid shot for people who've had Covid-19. Several local reports of people back in the hospital and even dying after having recovered and then getting the shot.

Then there is the personal choice issue. So do what you want to do, and clients will do what they want.

I got vaccinated, but I think overall it would be a terrible marketing strategy as political as the vaccine has become in the United States. I think it would cause many to look else where. Get the vaccine for yourself and your staff and take precautions to avoid covid with your clients until this situation normalizes and we all learn to live with it.

Not everyone who is refusing a covid shot is a "flat earth type" or an anti-vaxxer.
And the covid shot is not a vaccine...it's a shot. Just like the flu shot is not a vaccine. It too, is a shot and each year its a best guess on the correct strains chosen.

Hi Die Jäger,

Possibly you should re-read my original posting. I never stated that a company should or should not vaccinate or require vaccination for employees or clients. I have not made a decision based on monetary gains or losses. I simply asked if member advocated or rejected ANY companies requirements on Covid vaccination.

Speaking of financial gains or losses. At the moment we as a company are taking care of the medical costs of a "friend of our companies wife" who has sever Covid". It is costing us about $300.00 a day, with an initial cost that ran several thousand dollars to keep her alive. Medical here is not a socialized system nor is it modern or adequate. We have to take care of our selves, and the people that we care about including our staff.

As a reputable safari company we strive to offer safety in all of our endeavors. If that means asks for wealth of knowledge that is on this forum to help make informed decisions, so be it.

I would. I know 5 people that have died from this virus. If you are trying to protect yourself and your staff then that’s great. Do not let people who object to a simple vaccine put you or your people in danger. You will find that many people are ok with it and some aren’t but you have to keep the safety of your people in mind no matter the opinion of others. So simply put do what you feel is right by your people.
