COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

Wrong facts Mike, as of today Spain has 152.446 cases, and 15.238 deaths.

I have to add that we are the second country in the world with the highest life expectancy, (first is Japan), which means that a very large percentage of those that died are very old people. Once the virus gets into a nursing home, its mayhem.

I am reading a lot of comparisons between counties, and most don´t make much sense, as they dont´t go deep enough into the different variables.

That was from beginning of the month

I'm betting the Type A old farts will jump the gun and the model chart will more resemble a phugoid.

America is closing hospitals due to there being no census.

Is the cure worse than the virus.

The seasonal flu has killed almost 23,000? Far more then this latest bogeyman virus so far. Influenza is also highly contagious.

We can pack into the grocery stores, by choice, but not places of worship, by choice.?
You realize that that number is from Oct-now for flu....so 7 months.......16,000 in a bit over 3 months for Covid-19...likely double that in week or so. Yeah...boogey man...... ?? Yes, influenza is contagious, just not as much as Covid-19.

Religion can be practiced from home.....no need to bring a bunch of people together. Gotta have food, don't need to go to church to have faith......at least I don't......concerned about those that feel they need to be in church to have faith...

Interesting to me, how I can agree with you on so many posts, but then some...o_O

Great thing about this site though, we can feel a sense of community, yet accept that all don't see eye to eye.

I do appreciate the constant posts though from folks, keeps each day interesting.

South Africa just extended the lockdown by two more weeks.

Worshipping at home is not the issue. State politicians that dont care if I live or die, while trampling on the bill of rights. The 1st amendment allows religous freedom, and the right of assembly.
It's a matter of personal choice. Good, bad, or indifferent.
We all have to take precautions, however, this coronavirus pandemic has been politicized to a point where collateral damage of cure may far outweigh the symptom.

If they lift the lock down, I'm curious as to how many folks would be willing to fly in the cattle car for 15 hours to get there. Not knowing if infected people may be on board? Kind of like Russian Roulette.?

I’m not able to operate because 95% of my cases (as an ENT surgeon) are ear tubes, tonsillectomies and sinus surgery- all elective cases. Probably won’t be able to get back to doing anything (and who knows what cases I’ll do) until June. Other surgical specialists are in the same boat. Huge huge loss of income for the hospitals. Many employees at my level II hospital are furloughed like most hospitals. Just heard a hospital in OKC is temporarily closed. Unreal. Hopefully not for too long.

Like you I hope the hospital closing will not be too long. My 77 year old brother had a kidney stone, family curse, removed at a large VA hospital yesterday and he was the only patient in the surgery center when he got there. The Doctor actually came out to the waiting area and pushed him back into the operating room. By the way bet Your OB friends are going to be busy come December and January!

Why the hell would elective surgeries be cancelled BEFORE the hospital is overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases? Do the politicians think our medical professionals can’t make that call without another stupid blanket closure well before the peak? Heads need to roll when this is over.

Before they give the airlines one cent. They should make them remove 30% of the seats in the cattle car. Even if they raised the fare 30%. I think everyone would win. I doubt if I will fly much until there is a vaccine or better conditions on the plane.

A friend is in the same boat. He is an ophthalmologist with nine locations. Three weeks ago he laid of 46 employees. This includes 6-8 MD's and a couple dozen nurses. All he has done is a handful of glaucoma cases during this time.
