When I have done anything wrong I want to make sure I ASAP make an announcement stating that fact which is the purpose of this communication. I think it is also very important to understand what can take place between both ourselves and a taxidermist with shipping and government. As many of us have noted over this past year there at least seems to have been several posts about getting our animals back from Africa with some being lost or just not received in an expected time period. For the first time in my many hunts this happened to me after always getting my animals back with zero problems. I posted that it was TCI's fault given my tremendous frustration and I want to make sure I both retract that but also share some key learnings that certainly help me and may help others. I also want to thank Dalton Tink for helping me get a very thorough explanation to help me understand.
Summary:

  1. When you provide what you want, in my case, a wall pedestal mount, and then change your mind even in a short time period, this will put you behind other orders. I did not realize this, but it is totally fair and a good learning for me. In this case, I changed to a Euro mount with a shield, which put me behind others. I just did not realize this, so it was a good learning for me.
  2. At no fault to TCI the company they use for the shield which is outsourced took four months to get for my mount, while frustrating given it seems so easy with a simple piece of wood that is what happened and TCI could not do anything about that. If I had not requested a shield, it would have saved me four months...my bad in not realizing this.
  3. I feel really bad about this but it can happen, the person at Maple Freight who TCI uses who would have handled the shipment passed away unexpectantly so that Maple Freight got overloaded until they could get someone else which of course is understandable but I had no idea something like this was taking place.
  4. Also very understandable, Christmas is here and so things shut down for the holidays which makes total sense. My bad.
  5. At no fault of TCI the good old government getting all documents takes four months with this having nothing to do with the actual taxi or shipping.
  6. This is a real watch out and while most of you probably take this for granted, I did not think about it...TCIs emails were getting caught up in my spam folder meaning I just did not see a very polite response by them explaining all the above for which I greatly appreciate them. Dalton Tink's email went through to me and he kindly reminded me to check my spam folder where I found their very professional response.
I want to conclude with a very sincere apology and retraction to TCI!!! I also want to thank Dalton Tink of D&Y for helping me gain understanding of all the above!!!
While we always say TIA, I hope the above can help others when things can happen due to our doing something we might not understand it can cause delays due to our actions and no one else and in the future I will know some more questions to ask my Taxidermist before making my final decision particularly if time is important to me.

Thanks!!!

Stand up move !

Good note. I did consulting for a career. I always informed clients the impact of changes - price and schedule. Even small dollar changes (even those that might reduce costs) often impacted schedule.

Thank you for the update and setting the record straight. Very solid of you.
Goes to show there are two sides of every story (sometimes 3,4,5 sides).
Really glad that Dalton got involved and got it sorted. That shows commitment to the entire process, even the parts that are not always within control…..

I guess this is why you talk to the other party before posting

Excellent @Rare Breed. Thank you for sharing, and standing tall and owning your mistake, shows the stand-up individual you truly are. Thanks to Dalton & York for helping clear this issue. Kudos to all! (y) (y)

You and York are two of the very best I have hunted with!!!!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
