A nice solid hunting rifle with zero issues, cased in a proper mannlicher takedown green canvas Brady case. Well used but no abuse, repair to the toe, bore is a bit dark in the grooves but plenty strong enough to shoot well. Trap grip cap, trap buttplate, cleaning rod present, sound wood, never drilled and tapped, British Nitro proofs. 1950$

Steve Bertram is my A-team for honest, master gunsmiths. Team, buy this gun. We can clean and conserve the gun no problem, or Steve can do it. $1950 for a gentleman's stalking rifle is nothing. We can get EAW pivot mounts for it for $450 if you want optics.

Bottom line, whatever my humble reputation is on this site, amplify it for Steve. He's a straight shooter and a highly competent individual that sells no junk.

@S Bertram if my kids weren't already outfitted, this would be the first gun I bought a youth. Something to carry them through the next 80 years of hunting, never a yard sale or pawn shop in their future.

A full length Purdey private labeled Oak and Leather case would be VERY rare. Not many single shot non-takedown or magazine rifle purdeys were every made. I have a two barrel Purdey stamped motor case that I’m asking $1000 for. The last one of those to sell online went for $1600.

H&H take-down double rifle oak and leather cases sell $1600-$2200, so a full length Purdey case has to be more than that due to far more rarity.
