Hello all. I’m having an issue with a brand new x4 and trying to make sure it’s nothing I’m missing before I have to send back or deal with service departments. Rifle had been working fine. 18 shots total. Take it out of the case today and the barrels wont lock into the action. I notice the lever is dead center and the locking lug sticks out further than it had and wont allow the close unless I pull the lever to the right so that it clears. And the action is in a bind like this. Any help is appreciated.

I hope you can get this sorted out, at the moment you must feeling a lot of anxiety!

Was the gun disassembled without the hammers being cocked?
Been there, done that. Took me a while to figure it out that the hammers were down. I will bet that's what the problem is. I managed to get it cocked but it was a real pain.

I am thinking that is a possibility. I am not 100% sure.

It’s purely speculation on my part as I’m not at all familiar with your Chapuis but, having owned dozens of SxS shotguns over the last 30 yrs, it being taken apart without being cocked is my best guess.

Did the rifle come with an owner’s manual? An email or call to Chapuis would be in order if no answers here. It is most likely a relatively simple reset and not something to get worked up over.

I hope you’re right. I am concerned that something is broken inside the action as the top lever continues to pop out of place like it’s disengaging the lug. Thank you all for the input.

Just wanted to follow up and thank everyone who gave their input. Mr. Tom Leoni took care of my problem in short order and I can’t speak highly enough of our interaction. First class guy and organization all around. Thanks again to everyone.
@Tom Leoni is very helpful indeed, and really fun to talk with if you every have a chance.

I couldn’t say other than what I described in the earlier post. He immediately offered to replace the rifle so I wouldn’t have to deal with anymore trouble of repair etc.
Very impressed with that level of customer service, rare in this day and age

I was highly impressed. Nothing but good things to say. As a side note I might also add how impressed with the rifle I am. Beautiful furniture and perfect balance. Handles like a sports car.

I read an older thread that mentioned you having some 9.3x64 brass. Do you still have some? I am looking for 100 pcs, maybe 200.
