Chapuis double rifle - UGEX ejector

now the Chapius needs a bigger brother !

Mine definitely needs a big brother…

I’ve been drooling over the thought of a 450-400 Iphisi or 450-400 Elan since the day I brought the 375 Iphisi home…

You need a 450/400 Elan, very nice double, I think @PHOENIX PHIL has an Elan in 470 NE that he is quite fond of.

Took the UGEX to the range. The sights as they came from the factory were shooting around 3 inches right at 25 meters. Adjusted the sights and it’s not too bad.

My reloads are averaging 2270 fps. PPU factory loads average 2170 fps. Both using 285/6 grain projectiles. As the rifle is, I’d happily hunt with her…at ranges under 100 yards.

I have had several Chapuis DRs over the years and all have shot very well (for a double). That's the first single trigger one I have seen.

@pc3 I've got an Aimpoint H1 on mine. Not as sleek looking as some the newer dots.

Had my gunsmith 'custom' fit a spare piece of old picatinny rail I had - sounds a bit bubba - but it's not noticeable and looks OK.

For mounting a scope, there's a Recknagel option. They are alloy - I'd prefer steel to handle the massive recoil impulse of the 9.3. :ROFLMAO:

(Due to the scalloped corners, these didn't work with the Aimpoint)

There could be other options, I'd contact https://www.optics-trade.eu/

Not my rifle. But I’ve bought the exact same gear to fit to my UGEX down the track. The setup is working well for the owner. He bought his gear through Optics Trade, as did I.

Nice Rod.

With my Bubba Custom Special Mount, I was able to get the Aimpoint H-1 sitting a bit lower.

I do like the lever QR.

Aimpoint also do a lever QR conversion for the mount that comes with the H-1

@R eight Hey Rod - 'smashing' might be the wrong word :ROFLMAO:

Trail Boss loads are always good for a laugh.

These ones even regulated OK in the little Chapuis.

Do you guys know how one would remove the red plastic in the rear site ? mine is broken on one half so I'd like to remove it all together without bubba gumping the whole rear site assembly.

cheers pc3

I’d suggest brute force.

Mate I was going to suggest brute force. But I seriously doubt it would be needed.

I just had another look at mine and I reckon a sharp edge between the metal and plastic with a bit of pressure would remove it. I’d try that, be hard to make it worse.

Have you tried getting a replacement under warranty?

Good luck

Thanks Rod I will try that its broken anyway.....I have not had an update yet on the warranty issue yet, I'd like to fill the gap with a couple little pieces of bone or ivory type material rather than plastic....its the only cheap part on the rifle

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
