I have word from Michael458 that it is OK to post some photos
and a little info hot out of Africa.
CEB developed this bullet with guidance from Michael458, and begging from me.
I prefer it in the .458 WIN MAGA at 3.380" COL and 2500 fps from a 24" barrel.
Or in a .458 B&M+ with 16.9" barrel at 2.950" COL and 2350 fps.
But our unnamed hero hunter used a .458 WSM wildcat load in a rifle with 20" barrel for
his tropical loading to only 2250 fps MV.

First shot was quartering to base of neck near shoulder, through heart, diagonally through body and stopped in offside hip area.
Two bullets were recovered from this second-largest of all land animals:

Thank you Michael458.
Seems somebody basically copied the B&M line of cartridges.
But not so cool as when done in Winchester M70s like yours.

Nahhhh.......... Big difference between the B&M RUM Based case and the standard WSM.............

Example 9.3 B&M vs 338 WSM................

All I shoot is CEB Raptor and solids for my DG rifles now. They performed phenomenally on game in Africa. Regulated beautifully in my Heym 450 3-1/4”. Lots of useful advice from @michael458 through the process.
If you can fit them, use the talon tips! I trim my 458 Lott brass down just so I can get the COAL needed for the tips (to fit in mag).

Which Raptor are you using in the 458 Lott? I bet you are still doing the 470! HEH......... You can drop to the 420 Raptor, increase velocity and they are wicked.......... Have to cut that Lott back a good bit I think to fit the tip.......... That Talon Tip will increase 50 yard impacts from 125-150 fps! And it does make a difference..

Those that are using the new 400 #13 Solids should take a look at the 370 Lever Raptor...... I am thinking they might match up POI pretty good at 50 yards....... and the 370 Raptor is buffalo capable, you can add the tip to it, and have some good adjustment in COL I think in various 458s.............

You are not "UnderBulleted" with the 400s and 370s ............. As you can see with the 400s above...

@michael458
The 458 Lott I’ve used the 420 and 470, both with tip. From first cannelure to tip I believe they measure the same. The shorter end on the 420 is back of bullet (I’m sure for powder capacity in a Win Mag). In my CZ550 action I don’t have to trim much to fit the tip on the Lott. I run them both at 2250. The 420’s are great to shoot and I feel would do everything desired of them at 2250fps.

Still shooting the 470 raptor with tip in my 450 Heym. Had exit wounds through both shoulders on a big bodied buff in MOZ. Same buff I devastated the hips on my quick follow up and anchored him. I honestly don’t think another bullet would have done that type of damage and still exited. I’m an exit wound type of person…

Mono’s and CEB’s change what we think about SD and penetration. The light for calibers will absolutely do the job. Anyone interested go to CEB’s website and look at their SD “after expansion” chart in comparison. It just makes sense, and the way the front of the bullet performs is no snake oil. Those blades do tons of damage.

370-gr CEB Lever Raptor + 8-gr Ballistic Tip = 378-grains

Or 300-gr FN solid and 308-gr ESP Raptor-Tipped:

@ACM .......... can you point me in the right direction for that chart? I have been looking and cannot find it. I believe I can use that for a current project I am working on.

100% Absolutely....... two holes are better than one, and two for the price of one...............

Those blades do tons of damage.
Indeed, has to be seen to understand completely...........

CEB solids are amazing bullets. As mentioned many times, they perform fundamentally different that traditional solids with a significant hydrostatic effect. Used in handguns to 458

Great results and love to see you guys still testing. I've a rhino on my short list.

I'll be taking CEB Raptors (.375/275gr) for hippo and croc this fall to Zambia. How does one argue with 100yd, 5-shot groups like this??
