CEB 30 cal plains game?

Shot a whitetail buck this morning that weighed out at 197lbs. Frontal shot with no exit. The outfitter was stunned at the performance at the shot (dropped in its tracks) and the processor relayed that the chest was a bowl of jelly. Taking out the 300 Win Mag with 130gr CEB FB's this afternoon.
Hmmmm......... Seems I heard this story a few times before.....................
Well done.

Thanks, Michael. Shot a doe last evening at last light with a 130gr FB Raptor out of a 300 Win Mag. Shot hit behind the shoulder at 79yds and she went down like lightening hit her. I'm sold on these things. Next deer's getting a 275gr Safari Raptor from a 375 H&H! I'm here until next Wednesday and still have a messload of tags.....

My wife will be down on Sunday to hunt Mon/Tues/Weds with me, using the 308 with 100gr CEB's.

Outstanding........ I have not even tested the 130 Raptors, but I am 99.9% sure of what they are capable of, having so much experience with the 100 FB Raptor in all the .308 caliber cartridges. Now that is shooting experience and test work, since I do not hunt deer and such, I have always relied upon my guys to report back on the field work. And to a man, their reports have been the same as what you reported here as well. These things are just wicked.......... and its the same from .224 caliber (caliber does make a difference, but if you use 223, these are THE bullets) all the way to .620 caliber......... I have had several guys repeat extreme results with buffalo this year with the 420 Raptors in various .458 cartridges, Toby being one I believe........ of course most buffalo don't DRT, but none are going very far either, a few steps........

I can tell you I am extremely pleased with your success, although I am not surprised at all.

Perfect..........

Now the bad news, hasn't anyone schooled you on rat cartridges? 375 is a Rat Cartridge, suitable only for rats, and not big rats, mostly small mice and such. I can only hope that you get lucky. I pray you don't run into a man eating deer or a killer, because that rat cartridge may not get you out of trouble.......... Be sure and have the Wife back you up. If, and I say that with high hopes, IF you survive the encounter, being so undergunned with .375, then when you get back home we will sort you out on something a little better, they start at .458........... Good Luck Brandon, our prayers are with you.............. Of course, coming from me, that might not be enough, sorry..........

:ROFLMAO:

I KNEW this was coming! LOL!

I’d love to get my hands on some 130’s for my H&H!

Total count is 2 deer for the 308/100gr, 2 deer for the 300/130gr. Didn't end up dragging out the 375/275's this week. My wife flies in today and we start hunting again tomorrow-weds. Will report back. Haven't seen the internal damage yet, they're all going to the processor whole down here.

Well, the final count for this year's hunt was 6 total deer (1 buck, 5 does). My wife took two 100ish lb does with the 300 win mag/130gr CEB FB Raptors. Both dropped right to the shot with no fuss. Brought both rifles to the stand, but she prefers the 300's scope. She's apparently claimed my plains game rifle as her own now??

Quite happy with their performance. I appreciate all of your insight with reloading data and weight choices.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
