Glad I dont need any. With tax, shipping and hazmat probably push $150!

Yeah i was gonna order 5000 but I guess there was only 3000 left in stock and I said the hell with it. I'm not gonna pay hazmat for 3k primers

Unfortunately gone are the days of buying a case of primers for 150.00-200.00. I'm sure they will eventually get under 100.00 a brick (shipped) when I don't know. It hurt the last time I bought a case of GMM primers, it was 1k. I still have not seen another case for sale since I made that purchase.

I dont think we'll ever see prices back where they were before the summer of mostly peaceful protests... but.. I am seeing shelves start to looked stocked with both factory ammo and reloading supplies now and some stuff thats been really hard to find like IMR 4064 coming available occasionally at this point..

I dont think it will be too much longer before prices drop back to at least a somewhat reasonable place.. demand is remaining pretty static at this point while supply is going up..

I am however incredibly thankful that other than a few things (large pistol primers and IMR 4064 for example) I was fully stocked before things went crazy... and now have enough supplies on hand that it should be a rare occasion that I ever need to buy another component again (unless I do what I always seem to do.. and buy yet another rifle in yet another caliber that I dont already own lol)...

Primers are starting to show at the LGS nearby and I can do way better on price there.

Yep..

Local scheels has Federal LRP's for about $75 for 1000.. no hazmat, no shipping, etc... Remington is about $85 I think..

CCI are a bit more expensive.. I think theyre about $129 per 1000.. but again, no hazmat, no shipping, etc..

To think just 3 years ago you could buy as many as you wanted, pretty much any day of the week, at probably 10 places within a 10 mile drive of my current location.. and not pay $40 for 1000...

I was looking at my Powder Valley orders from a while ago. I'm Oct of 2020 I bought 16lb of reloader 16 for $450 shipped with hazmat. They have it in stock right now for $442/8lb and that's before shipping and hazmat. How ridiculous is that. That powder has doubled in price!
Although as a side note Powder Valley is running a no hazmat charge sale right now.

:)

That's just it. In the HISTORY of ALL the price increases over many DECADES, it was $40 for 1K three years ago. Most powder $26-28/lb. Standard cartridge brass $.40-.50 each. Standard cartridge factory hunting rifle ammo in Remington, Federal and Winchester at $18/box. I still call these CONTINUING shortages and massively inflated prices of mainly primers and brass now, but factory ammo in MANY cartridges too, a bunch of BS! If I HAVE to buy something I look for the best deal, but I shoot WAY LESS now due to the price increases and for fear of not being able to replace what I shoot.... STILL after 3 and a half years. Absurd!

And that's why I spent the money on a custom 22. The ammo for it is still not cheap for the good stuff. I don't have to reload it, don't have to worry about brass.

I thought the world was ending when I saw retumbo at the hodgdon store for several days without selling out. Hell it's still there in 1lb unless their site it messed up. Sure it's super expensive but that's been a unicorn powder for years and you had to just time it right to find stuff in stock anywhere. Now to see it stay in stock definitely means nuclear Armageddon is around the corner. It's the only explanation.
