Are you allowed 3 rifle calibers in to Africa, i think the limit is 2 calibers, and not 2 rifles in same caliber.
The number of rifles may be restricted by your airline. Usually two to a case.

Seeing that we are putting pics of Blaser and a double, here is mine from last August. R8 with a .300 RUM barrel and Heym 88B in .500 in the Pelican 1700 case.

I will be taking the same case this coming October, but just with the Heym .500 NE. I will cut new foam.

When we few on Qatar, I had 3 in one case. I forgot the other airline we used in Africa, they did not say anything either. I'm sure not all are as friendly. Those two were good to us.

lol, you are right. Now, I remember. I could not fit the scope into the 1700 and did not want to have TSA issues with some idiot insisting the scope is a gun part, so it used the 1720. I will take the 1700 when I go in August as it will hold only the double.

Does the bolt have to be out of the blaser barrel ?

The only reason I took it out was that it fit better with it being out.

Finally got her done! After using scissors and ordering foam cutting electric rod. The good ole Havalon knife was the fastest and cleanest way to cut the foam.

Looks great. As a suggestion for next time I have found that a turkey carving electric knife works on foam perfectly. Just my 2 cents.

Pelican 700 vault - about as compact as you can get but no wheels -most airports have carts if you need

I’m waiting for the Atlanta flight in Joberg right now. I flew delta and Airlink. No issues with taking 2 Blaser R8’s with three barrels. Scopes are in my carryon bag. .375, 9.3x62 and .270 win. Worked great.

Almost finished with my case for Blaser R8 9,3x62 and 6,5x68 barrels. I wait the second scope and than will be tottaly finished. Next week I will do it a Blaser R8 professional with 375 H&H and 30-06 barrels to Afrika.

What did you use to cut the foam? It came out really clean.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
