Can they survive being thrown in to the bed of a truck? Someone inadvertently standing on them?

All of our sticks are covered by an unconditional, lifetime warranty. In ten years we have replaced about a dozens sets of sticks that were left at the range and shot, those that were propped up on log and snapped by a truck, etc.

Based on the conditions you describe I think you would be better with a pair of hickory as it is springy and very difficult to break. You can stand on all of them without damaging them, but standing on them when one end is propped up on a spare tire or something else would be problematic....as it would be for anything but a steel rod.
