You know it's BIG when you have to put on a knee brace to clean it !!! :)

32" Eland. What a great animal to hunt. What a day. Like they say hard works does pay off at the end of the day...

Thanks for a great thread @AK145, Eland have always been high on my list of game to pursue, especially Livingstone's as they eluded me on three safaris. I finally scored on a nice bull in Mpumalanga with Peter Thormahlen back in '07. Shot this bull trotting at the back of the herd with my Blaser Double in 30-06.

This bull is where it all started, a 40" Cape Eland in the Northern Cape near Kimberley in '89, taken with a Winchester Model 70 in 30-06. The venerable old 06 has served me well over the decades.

My son Grant took this excellent trophy with Peter Thormahlen in June while hunting Mangetti Nat'l Park in Namibia. Grant was right by my side when hunting with Peter back in '07 on the Mpumalanga Safari - great memories hunting with your family are always the best.

Sorry to deviate from the post but I wanted to share this one. I finished my Eland quest this past February in Cameroon with Mayo Oldiri Safaris. Many thanks to Joaquin Morales and Churton Wright who got me on this grand Lord Derby Eland. I opted for an HS Precision in 375 RUM on this hunt instead of the old 06.

Here's my Livingstone Eland I got earlier this month with Majune Safaris in Niassa Province, Mozambique. Now I need to figure out where to put a shoulder mount in my house of an animal this big.

man, that's a great eland, love his color ,shape and size.
why don't you do a pedestal mount of him ,so he doesn't pull your wall down
and something real cool with his back skin

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
