Cape Buffalo Charge At Five Yards

When dealing with a Cape Buffalo that charges you head on, what is the preferred and most effective stopping cartridge? Is it a solid or Woodleigh Cup Point Solid or Barnes TSX or CEB Safari Raptor or ?

Also, caliber and rifle ? I would assume a double rifle and at least a 470 NE ?

Do any of you know of anyone who had to use a big bore revolver to stop a charge ? (S&W 500, 500 JRH, 475 Linebaugh or 500 Linebaugh)

The rifle you have in your hands and the bullet that’s in the chamber. Most cases you are going to have exactly what you took your first shot with and the truck will be a long ways away. A few hunters might bring a double and have the tracker carry it as a second rifle but most won’t. Your PH will likely be carrying a 458+ either double or bolt.

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
