Everyone, being a native Atlantan I can tell you we do not drive in ice and snow well at all!!!! Friday has been confirmed we have a 80% chance of ice and snow starting at 9AM extending through the day with temperatures falling below freezing starting at 5. The wind chill will take it down to the low teens creating dangerous driving conditions for our dinner
I absolutely could not stand knowing I had organized an AH dinner knowing this then someone getting hurt or worse due to my not being diligent and accountable for my good friends
Therefore I am cancelling the Friday night dinner and hoping to do it next year at the same easy to get to place down from the GA Congress Center.
I will be at DSC Thursday and hope to see AH members. Just want everyone to stay safe when they visit my city!!!!

Unfortunate but good call! Definitely the wise thing to do, as a fellow southerner, I concur with this, driving in ice is never good.

I am super bummed. It is great to meet people from the forum and I am not going to SCI this year. If anybody is at DSC and wants to see one of the crazy bow hunting members here, I am in booth 5015 with the Wildcrete 3D targets from South Africa.

Good call. When we moved from Alaska to Alabama we were in shock the first time we saw Southerners trying to drive on ice! Like a bunch of unguided missiles randomly shooting through intersections, across lanes and into ditches!

How does the airport handle the weather? We are flying in from St. Louis on Delta- ETA is 645PM I think. Would you guess we would have a problem?

As a reformed Atlanta native I can vouch for Rare Breed’s decision. You really don’t want to see us try to drive on snow and ice; it’s not pretty!

Driving in Atlanta during a snowstorm makes us as nervous as a reggae band playing a Klan rally!

In our defense. we don’t own chains and don’t even know what a snow tire is. No plows either. Good time to tell Alexa to turn on the gas fireplace

I don't care for crowds so avoid convention centers or professional spectator sports like the plague. But this party sounded like fun. I know you were looking forward to again being a gracious host. Tough decision to cancel but honorable. Tip of the hat. What will happen to the door prizes?

probably a smart decision. I’m flying in tomorrow so should beat the weather. I wonder how it will impact attendance at the show.

only delays not cancelations

I’m bummed but it probably makes sense.

I haven’t been following the forecast that far north. My plan is to get up there Thursday night and stay without having to drive anywhere until Saturday.

The problem is we really don’t have the equipment, salt, etc to deal with these really infrequent events.

Absolutely the correct call given the forecast. The weather is going to keep me from making it up to Atlanta at all for the show. Hopefully will be able to catch up with some folks at SCI.

I think it is appropriate to ere on the side of caution in this case. :D Cheers:

While the weatherman drives us all nuts, know that the DSC 2025 convention in Atlanta is FULL of outfitters and the show will be tremendous!

Spent the last 2 days as a volunteer with DSC and the outfitters are thrilled about the way they have been welcomed to Atlanta!

You made the right call @Rare Breed. I’m driving down from St. Louis tomorrow (Thursday) with @Jeff505 and my son. We planned on leaving Saturday morning, but our departure might be delayed if the forecast is accurate.

Good call. I will definitely plan to attend next year. All visiting GA, enjoy our state and Southern hospitality. See ya all next year.

My wife and I arrived last night.
Because of the AH dinner cancellation, we decided to dine at the previously scheduled No Mas Cantina. Outstanding real Mexican cuisine (chow for my fellow Marines!)!

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
