I am headed to RSA - Eastern Cape in a few weeks, for a safari and have a question about importing certain species back to the US.

Does anyone know if Serval, Civet and Aardwolf can be imported back to the US? A few years back Aardwold could not but wasn’t sure if regs had changed?

Thanks

Serval and civet both can be. Aardwolf I’m not sure. Call SSI and they can certainly give you a definite answer.

just had a caracal in through Chicago going to Dennis Harris (two weeks ago). Biggest issue is if there are permits with your outfitter for the small cats. the number of permits are apparently becoming very limited.

Yes to all . I imported an arrdwolf less than a year ago.
Might depend where it's taken though. Mine did came from the cape of South Africa.

It depends whether your outfitter did his homework. You can import aardwolf if a permit was obtained from DEAET to legally hunt them prior to the hunt. In the Eastern Cape, they'll normally only issue them on the strength of a small carnivore assessment being done on the property where they're hunted. Even if if you could hunt serval in the Eastern Cape I doubt you'd be issued a permit. No civet in East Cape.

I have heard it is very hard or impossible to get permits in the east cape for most of what you want other then carcal. I would listen to Victor on this one and double check with your outfitter that permits are in hand.

Great insight, thank you so much.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
