So, as many of you already know, I'm planning to return to the OMAY this year. I had planned a repeat performance of last years hunt for Tuskless Elephant and Cape Buffalo. Then I got to thinking, why not shoot a bull Elephant as well? I've always had an ultimate plan of hunting a bull, but have found myself putting it off for mostly monetary purposes. My wheels started turning while watching multiple Elephant hunting videos, and while reading The Wanderings Of An Elephant Hunter the last couple weeks. Something just told me to go ahead and do it. So I've added a Bull Elephant to my quota for 2023. By pure luck, they had a cancellation just the day before, that opened up this opportunity for me. Right place, right time, I suppose.
The way I see it, I'm already paying the daily rate and flight to get there. And since I plan to do this one day anyway, it will be less expensive to just include it in my current hunt. Just a simple trophy fee, and that's all. Nothing else I wasn't already paying for. So....win win.
Adding a bull to the menu has also added a lot of excitement to the next 5 months of waiting and planning! This is shaping up to be epic!

Thats outstanding @TOBY458 , sure looking forward to the story.
We will be in Zim hunting ele next year and although its a long ways off I find myself trying to control the excitement.
Wish ya best of luck and straight shooting!

You would need a lot of Days to Hunt? I wouldn't Hunt One Elephant for less than 10 Days.

I Hunted with Dalton a few years back for a Double Cape Buffalo in The Omay South. He is a Hard working PH that Never gives up. I went on a Bull Ele Hunt with a Diffrent Outfitter a couple years ago and Dalton was going to be the PH but he couldn't make it so they brought in another PH. Good Luck

Good for you buddy!

Glad you made the decision to hunt the bull, you will never regret that decision. I am planning to hunt elephant in Zim in 2024. Can't wait to see your report later this year.

Well done Toby. Just being in the Omay is a prize in itself, but now you have taken it to the level of the big boys of yesteryear. Do it properly, tick all the boxes.

Wow, good for you, Best of luck.

Exciting! So the primary goals are tuskless and a bull? That will be an awesome hunt.
Kind of. The primary is the bull elephant. Then a buffalo and/or tuskless. But if I see either of the lesser animals while tracking a bull, I'll take them. Unless of course we're closing in on a big elephant bull. Good choices to have!

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
