Building your 2 or 3 caliber take down hunting set?

.375 Holland & Holland Magnum
&
.300 Holland & Holland Magnum

On a Pre ‘64 Winchester Model 70 action.

Antonio Zoli O/U double. I would have a matching pair.

450/400 NE 3" 25" barrels(they 1-6× Lynx DG scope with German nr 4 reticle and red dot with qd mounts
12ga with 5 chokes. Cyl, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full.

9.3x74R 24" barrels same scope as above
7x65R 26" barrels Lynx 2.5-15 scope with SA hunters reticle.

That would cover everything I hunt nicely.

.300 win mag
.375 H&H
.458 win mag or Lott
Have to ask, did you choose the win mag over H&H for ammo availability? You’ve always come across as a man who would prefer the nostalgia of the Super 30.

If you were going to build a multi caliber, 2 caliber and 3 caliber take down rifle set to hunt around the world what would you choose for calibers? Remember same bolt face and action lengths

I'm inclined to choose the .375 H&H Magnum and .300 H&H Magnum. Same action length, same bolt face; probably could even use the same cartridge carrier or cartridge belt. In a perfect world and with an unlimited budget, I would also add a .400 H&H Magnum barrel for the same reason. The Dakota 76 Traveler would provide a suitable framework, along with a selection of proper scopes and backup iron sights. That should handle any medium- or big-game animal in the world.

It might be a challenge lugging it through the airport though!

There is 303 British that’s used for hunting so it can work 303 savage is it hat you might be thinking of

.300 win mag
.375 H&H
.458 win mag or Lott
thats gotta be a pick for me as i had an HS Precision take down in 300 wm, 375 hh and 458 wm and it was a dandy set up! I sold it a few years back and i have hug regret! Quick change out and of course had the 3 "top ends/barrels" and two bolts as the 300 wm is smaller dia bolt face. Had 2 scopes, one for the 300 and for the 375 with the 458 open sights/rear peep. Quick release leupold mounts made it a nice quick change out.

For two calibers its tough cuz there are so many great calibers out there and three calibers set up is tough choice as well. Well we know my latest addition in multi calibers that i picked up here on AH is 330 Dakota and 404 Dakota which should handle just about anything i would want to hammer anywhere in the world for the most part. Adding a third smaller caliber would be kool but if you pack this set in the very heavy duty factory Dakota case it would be a serious challenge to get around as it is HEAVY with two calibers much less adding a third!

Thanks for all the replys and ideas! I am going to pull the trigger on another 3 caliber set up and it will either be the one mentioned above that ive already owned in 300 wm/375hh/458wm as it can go anywhere in the world without hastle. Thought of going out of the box a bit with WBY calibers or possibly RUM or ??? Ive had a few different double caliber set ups in Wby and Rum that were nice but i sold them when i got my hands on the triple mentioned above.

It seems that the Blaser set up would be the easiest set up to put together these days for sure. Good luck with it and if any of you pull the trigger on building or buying a multi caliber set up, please let us know!

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
