Building a "tactical Dangerous Game rifle"

Me personally, if I’m building a DG rifle it’s going to be a bolt action (so I can actually take it to Africa for DG). I’d need to look at the specific requirements by country, but I believe a few countries have restrictions on minimum OAL which might impact barrel length. If they don’t then I’m going with an SBR and threaded barrel for a can. Maybe do it integral so I avoid an extra Tax Stamp but likely doing 2 Stamps.

I’d definitely build some sort of scout rifle and make sure it’s a CRF. I love AR’s and know that manual of arms well so it’d be hard not to do it with AR Controls. I know Q is doing the Fix in 8.6 Blackout with a 12” barrel just like this. I also know Kevin has successfully killed several Buffalo and a Lion or Two with it. A .375 Raptor might also be a choice. With a rifle set-up like this you can easily run a LVPO optic

Now the other option is just a shortened traditional bolt action scout rifle and have it chambered in a more tradition caliber like .375 H&H. I’d have irons on it, a forward mounted top rail for a red dot, maybe even an M-Lok hand-guard and red dot. Big tactical oversized bolt knob and some sort of DBM with 8-10rds.

Below are some images of the Fix Q makes.

Yeah if I did it, it would definitely be a bolt gun. Somehow we got sidetracked onto the semi auto's here, but if it were me it would be something like a defiance deviant action in a manner T5 or EH5 stock. If those would stand up to the recoil.

Maybe something like "The Fix" in one of the new B&M short cartridges

Crap....just buy a reliable crf actioned rifle with wood stock for a dg rifle.....keep it simple stupid.....pimped rifles are not the go to for the dg game.....or I am too old...
Why did guys in the 50's and 60's not use 4 bores..... and 8 bores....... or flintlocks,......
.
....since that was "the old way" back then....... No, they used the absolute most modern equipment they had. Not that I'm against doing it the old school way. I have a double rifle and a Sako 416 rigby and that is what i will hunt with. There are just better options out there.

I’ve been very tempted to get a Fix. Manners is one of my favorite rifle makers. I’m about to order a new stock from them for an Ultralite .280AI. Considering the EH4, EH5 or a EH6A. Can’t make up my mind …

I have an EH1 on my LR rifle and I like it a lot, but my buddy ordered his with the EH5 and I really like it too. I shot an AI rifle a lot and the pistol grip/thumbhole of the EH5 reminds me of it. Very comfortable.
I haven't shot one of the Fix but I did own a Sig Cross for a while and I really liked it. It was all kinds of handy. My next short action might just be a fix.

Aw, good Lord. (n)(n)(n)

If we are going old school, I think bow and arrow is the answer.

I seen Tim Well get stabed in the leg with one of his spears. It did not look fun. If you have one of his, it is the blade on one side and a very sharp point on the other.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
