Building a 470 Capstick

I am also building the Capstick with cz550 action, B&C stock (weighted with tungsten) and Douglas 0.475 barrel. Designed the barrel contour (oversized by 31/1000, dual taper) to fit the B&C channel
and stress level. The gentlemen at Douglas use a duplicator for non-std contours, so going to try this out (3D printed):

I use ball powder in my Lott (I do find the Lott recoil sharp) and will use H4895 in the Capstick. But, for the same rifle weight, I do not expect the recoil to be any different, based on this:
Guess I will find out:)

Jeffery404, nice plan.
I made a Pac-Nor No. 6 Sporter contour fit into the B&C "Kevlar"/"Aramid" that came off a CZ-USA factory rifle. Same stock now sells from B&C for about $200 less than CZ-USA used to sell them for.
Gunsmith shortened the Pac-Nor barrel by an inch at the shank end and then cut it at muzzle to 23" length overall.
I sanded out the barrel channel a minor amount and cut into the barrel channel to accommodate a barrel recoil lug at same location as the previous CZ barrel contraption.
The bedding block runs through grip to forend tip.

Here is what the CZ factory bedding looked like before I redid it:

Sanding is visible at forend tip.

That would be another way to use a Pac-Nor No. 6 Sporter, for a 470 Capstick,
though rifle above is a 500 Mbogo, my No. 2 rifle of two in the world.
It is a .510/470 Mbogo 3-Inch, based on Dave Estergaard's 470 Mbogo.

we have used the the pacnor #5, 6 and douglas #5 but wanted to try this out and have CZ550 magnum barrel contour exact match in the stock channel and what I call "fat" barrel from the forearm to the muzzle of 800/1000 diameter.
We shall see

My first 500 Mbogo had the barrel made by Harry McGowen himself.
He was the guy supplying CZ-USA barrels at the time and so he left a "dog nut" on the barrel for creation of integral rear sight base and recoil lug.
Yes, weird contour, 0.820" muzzle diameter at 25" length but pretty skinny rearward, so I do not call it a "fat" barrel on mine.

Muzzle diameter on 500 Mbogo No. 2 (pictured above) is 0.770" at 23" length,
without scope and rings, it weighs 9#4oz.
With that 30-mm-tubed scope and CZ rings it weighs 10#10oz.

500 Mbogo "Original" (above) weighs 10 lbs and zero ounces in the heavy laminate stock fully glass bedded, pillared, cross-bolted, and grip-rodded, without scope and rings and no ammo onboard.

In the B&C stock it will weigh about same as 500 Mbogo No. 2, about 9-1/4 lbs,
yet with 25" muzzle 0f 0.820" diameter.
Good idea for the front of a CZ sheet metal box, soldered steel reinforcement:

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
