Easy answer: go shoot another one.
Gotta be the shortest post ever for me. Better make an appointment with my family doctor. Something is wrong.Easy answer: go shoot another one.
I would not. I would look into having one of the photos printed on canvas - size dependent on your space. You could do it sepia toned to give a vintage look include the date and location
BTW. I’ve had a loss. My wife’s cat used my color phase black bear rug for a litter box. Unsalvageable. Another rug just never would have felt the same for me.
Pretty close! Don't think you could do better than that. This one may actually have nicer bosses. Your wife might be much more amenable to a skull mount. I can give you my pattern for a base. This one was in pine because the buffalo hangs in the kitchen that's done in pine cabinets and wainscoting.View attachment 669506
Guys, thank you for your advice.
Replicas are not yet very common here in Germany.
I'll have to do some research.
This one is offered on E-bay.
Not unlike mine - if you compare it with the photo above
BUY IT! PRETTY CLOSE FOR LUCK OF THE DRAW. HAVEN'T LOST ANYTHING LARGE BUT DID HAVE A GENET SLIP IT'S HAIR AND DID WITHOUT FOR XX # OF YEARS TILL I SOFTENED AND BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT AND REALLY GLAD THAT I DID CAUSE I CAN HAVE A QUICK LOOK AT IT AND RELIVE THAT NIGHT.View attachment 669506

What happened to your trophies? Outfitter, taxidermist, or shipper?I think you made the right decision.
Nothing wrong with that bull. Was he on egun? I never look at taxidermy there. I shot a black grouse in Austria last year and every grouse I saw on Egun looked like shit. Ended up being a $4000 chicken. Between the taxidermy and hunt and travel. Maybe it is worth it, maybe it is not. I enjoy looking at him, he is in my office next to my desk.
This bull looks like your bull and he looks good. I wouldn't have a problem with that.
I lost all my trophies from my 2005 safari. I have cried over it a lot, and never replaced them. I will just go kill some more stuff next year and replenish the stock.
Please send a picture of the taxidermied cat!I would not. I would look into having one of the photos printed on canvas - size dependent on your space. You could do it sepia toned to give a vintage look include the date and location

Good question, I’ve heard that there is. If I recall someone on this site had it and lost a shipment but got no satisfaction out of it.Is there an insurance you can buy that will cover lost trophies? I know there’s one that covers trophies that are in your possession before purchasing the insurance but it would be nice to get a check to go shoot another.
If you want to by all meansthe trophy of the buffalo pictured is lost somewhere in Africa (my wife is not unhappy about it).
The great hunt back then is always on my mental hard disk; I have also taken enough photos. But-somehow I would like to have it at home and so the thought sometimes germinates in me to buy a similar trophy on E-bay so that it is “finally there”.
I don't know if anyone understands that.
There are a few sold there over the year from estates; cheap.
I really hunted for it and finally shot it in the Save, it just went over the wall somehow on the way to the taxidermist, so I'm not boasting about Münchhausen stories.
I'm not lying then,or,or only a little bit??
What would be your opinion on this idea?
Heretical?
Regards
Foxi

I think a skull on the wall can give the visitor perspective that's hard to get from just a photo. Losing the one he shot is just part of the story that makes it interesting. The explanation is unusual. "No, it's not the one I shot. But you can see from looking at this one how impressive and menacing they are. Here's what happened ..." I think it would work fine. On the other hand, apparently the OP has shot other buffalo so perhaps there is no need to provide perspectives?I won’t try to stop you or convince you not to, I just don’t think I would. Then again, I’m not big on taxidermy anyhow.
Every time someone asked “Is that the buffalo you shot in Africa?” I’d hate to say no I bought that one on EBay.
