Do you eat Brussel Sprouts

I agree w/ what was said above (the tired old boiling to mush is not very appealing.) Getting the stuff fresh on the stalk, clean well, chop each sprout in-half, coat w/ EVO or butter and bake or grill (I think grilled is best, but you must babysit it-cooks fast!) Considered a superfood-very good for you.

w/ garlic herb butter even better! ;) If your neighbors are farmers, you've seen the above already!!

Oven roasted creates the ultimate flavor, the finishing touch of lemon zest and green onions.

or

Toss with olive oil, roast in the oven until tender
Meanwhile, make a honey-balsamic sauce, heat honey until boiling point, add balsamic and then add chili flakes, dijon mustard, and garlic to this - cook until nice and thick

Spoon over sprouts when they come out of the oven.

Same with many vegetables. I can’t stand boiled beets, but roasted beets are outstanding.

Shake them in a bowl with oil, salt and pepper, put in a grill basket and grill on the BBQ until tender. When cooked shake them in a bowl with a little Maple syrup and enjoy.
Also like then thin sliced and raw in a salad or coleslaw.

First, wash and cut Brussel sprouts in half.

In a saucepan of boiling water, cook for 8-10 minutes.

While cooking the Brussel Spouts, sauté a sweet yellow onion ( Vidalia type or other sweet yellow onion) in bacon fat, until onions turn clear, but not browned.

Drain steamed Brussel Spouts, add to a roasting pan the Brussel sprouts, sauteed onions, a quality ( expensive) balsamic vinegar, enough to coat every thing, and salt and pepper.

Roast at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes, stirring a couple of times.

Make sure you are getting good caramelization of the batch.

Ovens vary. A lot. You may need to roast at 400-425 degrees.

I hate just plain steamed Brussel Sprouts, but in this recipe I eat the hell out of them.

I found them to be bitter, mushy, and disgusting growing up. Turns out my dear departed mother did not know how to cook them properly. Boiling them to death is not OK. Roasted with any of the various addictions above or on their own with some salt, they can be quite delicious.

Ok, I'm looking for Brussel Sprout recipes.

I was recently given some farm fresh Baby Brussel Sprouts by @jcinsa who grows them commercially.

I was not a fan of them as a kid. My wife says my mother probably boiled them too long.

I steamed some with my other steamed veg. My wife said roast some with the veg in the oven, just add them later. I did that as well.

I was going to write a book 101 ways to cook Brussel Sprouts to support our Brussel Sprout farmers but I'm only up to 2 ways to cook these at the moment.
Boiled them too long? The problem was boiling them at all!

Brussel sprouts need to be roasted. Cut in half, in a very hot oven - 450 deg or even a bit more - for about 15 minutes.

You don't need bacon, although bacon improves everything.

Salt and pepper them, toss them with some olive oil and a bit of balsamic or other vinegar, and roast away. Delicious.

One of the few edibles which is delicious and which is also unequivocally good for you!

One way I have found that company also enjoys is this-

Slice about 1/2 of good bacon into little pieces. Cook this down to "just before done" in a cast iron skillet. At this point, take about a pound of brussels sprouts that have been cut in half and add them into the pan. Season with white pepper and balsamic vinegar. Cover with lid. Once they start to wilt down a bit, add some freshly chopped garlic. Cook for a few more minutes, until the sprouts are cooked through. Serve hot with a balsamic reduction drizzled over top.

I like to use cast iron, as I can cook with it on the stove, the grill, or an open fire. If I am cooking on either of the latter, I'll take the lid off at the beginning of cooking so they pick up a light smoke flavor.

I do a variation of the method mention above by typilotguy. Something along these lines without the mint:

They are always a hit, cast iron is a must!!!

I don’t have the recipe but the best I’ve had were pan fried with bacon and balsamic vinegar.

This one!

As a Belgian I feel obligated to chime in. If you don’t like Brussels sprouts, it’s because you have never tried them cooked the correct way.

I’ll give the traditional recipe:
Wash the sprouts, then cut a cross in their bottom, to help withe the cooking later on. Boil them a few minutes until they start to soften up a bit. Take them out. Get a big skillet on the fire with a large amount of fresh butter, some oignons and either bacon snippets or just rough rock salt. Sauté it all till you get to golden colour and serve. Everyone who claimed they hated Brussels sprouts, that tried them like this was converted! :D

Out of all the veggies from the cabbage family , the Brussels sprouts are actually the tastiest in my opinion.

I'll offer you an even greater challenge @CBH Australia ....
Try doing 101 Recipes for Rhubarb as a book!
I don't think you could get more than one, and it would be Strawberry and Rhubarb pie!

I coat a baking sheet with olive oil. Salt and pepper the olive oil base then slice the sprouts in half. I brush a little olive oil on top and sprinkle with more salt. Bake about 20 minutes at 400 degrees

If you like date squares “ matrimony cake”, try adding a cup of cooked rhubarb to your dates for the filling. You get more filling and it is not quite as sweet.
