Thank you to whomever brought this back to the top. Wanted to add that I am not only thinning the safe but am in the process of eliminating all firearms due to advanced age and health.
So will consider any reasonable offer. It is a Great working rifle made even more reliable by Wayne at AHR.

I have been to Robar and talked with Robbie Barrkman. He was a very cool guy that was from South Africa but came to my home state of Arizona. He was not only a Master GunSmith and Firearms instructor and the owner/creator of Robar but a ver cool guy!
Anyway I tell you this because he and McMillan had a very close working relationship! They worked together on a lot of military and hunting rifles! So if I had to bet, I’d bet that is a McMillan stock…

Yes, you may be right but the ports were for improvement in reduction in muzzle lift and therefor quicker recycle time not for recoil reduction.
My first Lott before porting the front (muzzle) would come up off the bench a good 14-16”. When practicing fast recycle on 2 occasions (not on the bench)with that rifle I failed to get the butt high enough in the shoulder and got hit by the scope. Decided to port for better muzzle control and it made a difference.
The brake may not help sale either but screw off the brake and screw on the thread protector, but for practice the brake does help to be able to shoot more rounds before the recoil has an effect on the shooter. For that needed practice I can shoot more rounds with the brake then I want to without the brake.
Different strokes for different folks, I believe there is someone(s) out there who believe that function before form is important.

Just an idea if someone is on the fence but dislikes the porting, any competent TIG welder could bridge across the holes. I would put a brass or similar slug in the barrel out of caution, but could likely get them filled relatively inexpensively. Barrel could be cleaned up/polished to acceptable aesthetics fairly easily as well. No, I am not a gunsmith or certified welder, but I cannot think of a reason this is not viable. Could also cut and recrown the barrel to the late Safari Kid's preference, but then you lose the "benefit" of the brake work and add the expense of additional work and are getting pretty short (and shedding needed ounces). As is, it is a solid rifle and tool for the money.

I love your rifle! Interesting history to be sure. I enjoyed reading the occasional Jack Lott article in Guns & Ammo as a youth back in the 70’s. The muzzle brake becomes a non issue with the screw in thread protector and while the purists scoff at Magna Porting I have found unlike muzzle brakes, there is no discernibly louder sound with Magna Porting, it is nothing like a muzzle brake.

Of course the felt recoil reduction is less with Magna Porting than a traditional muzzle brake and with only 2 ports on yours instead of 4, increased sound is a complete non issue and excellent to control muzzle rise for quicker repeat shots as you stated. A favorite gun writer of mine, the late Ed Matunas mentions this in his book, Big Game Cartridges & Rifles. He was not a fan of muzzle brakes for African hunting for all the same reasons mentioned here on AH over the years but he was okay with and favored Magna Porting on the big bores. He felt the slight increased decibel level with Magna Porting was inconsequential and was an excellent enhancement on a DG rifle for reduced muzzle rise for quicker follow up shots.

Well, I leave for a Cape buffalo hunt in less than two weeks, so not in the market to buy before I leave (not sure what total expenditures will be, additional animals, etc.) and I prefer 14 “ LOP but this is a rifle right up my alley so I’ll reach out to you after I get back Sept 23rd, if it’s still available! I bought from Krish so he can vouch for me. GLWS either way, this is a fine DG rifle.
